Use pH down NOT lemon
I started using lettuce seeds in this rockwool as I wanted to start growing the lettuce hydroponically. People online would state that you have to use lemon with water on them. Just enough to alter the pH level due to the way they process this product. Well, the sun does a number on lemon and the pH is not stable when that happens. It also, in my experience, promotes mold growth especially when you have to keep them damp and humid to get the seeds to sprout. I had to toss the first batch using lemon and started using pH down. Mix your water with the pH down to get to the level you need and then soak the rockwool. What a difference! No mold. No smell. And, the seeds looked super healthy and sprouted fast. I also cut the 1.5 size in half horizontally which worked better as well and gave me more pods to start seeds from.

Good for tower gardens
We have a tower garden and use these pods quite often. They fit in our tower garden and easy to use. However the hole for the seeds is a bit small, so it was difficult to get the seeds in. We did not have a whole lot of seeds grow unfortunately.

Just what I expected
Great replacement for the rock wool in my tower garden. Perfect size to fit in the cups. Stays moist between watering and allows roots to grow through.
