Was hoping someone would comment on how this ir unit is used to set the options for the controller, clarity of instructions, what data is displayed on the ir unit’s screen. Or even if you need the ir programmer for routine, 24-hour battery/solar panel / load regulation. I’m hoping to use it to power a remote security camera that I can’t run 120 volt line to, so the lights on/ off programmable feature would have no application for me. UPDATE 10/8/18; ordered the unit, not knowing what to expect, but found the remote to work well, nice, clear display with selectable backlight that works well, and decent instructions. Especially if you are using your solar rig for lighting, this remote will allow you to take advantage of the controller’s timed dimming and on-off features. You can also review your system’s performance in real-time, as well as review, or adjust the controller’s settings.
