## Description

A Bell Siphon is an elegant way to drain your grow bed in a flood and drain aquaponics system without using a timer to turn your pump on and off. (Note: The design of this siphon assumes approximately 8" of media depth. It will not work properly with less than 7" or more than 10") Why use a siphon? * No more timer - You will no longer need nor want a timer to control your pump. This eliminates: - The cost of the timer - The risk of timer failure - The cost of the electricity needed to run the timer * Pump runs continuously - Pumps that run continuously suffer less wear and tear. This may result in a longer pump life. * More aeration -If you are diverting part of your water stream back into your fish tank for aeration, using a siphon to drain your beds will increase the aeration you deliver to your fish tank (since aeration based on diverting a portion of the water stream only works while your pump is running). * Educational opportunity – A bell siphon is loaded with basic physics and with our window at the top of the Bell, you can see the physics in action. **Q: Does this come with installation instructions by chance and other parts needed or size of pipes needed to connect to flow to sump? Thanks!**
A: Had everything we needed  15 year old set it up alone

**Q: Can I cut this if my grow bed is media depth is less than 7"?**
A: Hello Rob,  yes, you can cut it, provided the same length is cut off of both the stand pipe and the siphon are equal in length.  Then also, if you cut the notched end of the siphon, it would have to be re-notched so as not to tamper with its operational properties.  Please understand that once it is cut, we cannot take it back.  Thank you for the inquiry.

**Q: What size container can be used with this siphon?**
A: Hi Ruben, the most important consideration would be the height.  As long as your container is at least about 9-10" in height, you can use this siphon since water will start draining once it reaches 8".  The length and width of your container is not as much of a consideration since water will drain evenly out of the siphon.  Thank you for the inquiry.
