Ink Master, Season 7

Things That Make You Go Hmmm....
I'm a fan of this show, watched all the seasons, and wrote a review for the S4 round of the show. The theme of this season is new artists vs veterans from other seasons of the show (8 of each). Now here is my main concern from the start: the veterans appear to be returning one at a time. So how is that fair? It appears this is continuing through at least the third episode. So the 5 other returning artists will not participate in at least three challenges and eliminations. My other thought is that this season is titled "Revenge" and the ones getting the revenge would be the returnees. You have to wonder if the newbies are considered expendable and the expectation is that the 8 veterans will be competing against each other as the season goes on. Considering the caliber of most of the veterans, this would not be a surprise. Spike TV has spun off some one off competitions bringing back various contestants from Ink Master. so I kind of feel that this was a wasted opportunity to get all new players (or almost all new since they would often bring back one veteran per season). It remains to be seen if there are some major surprises ahead that would negate the first part of this review. I still recommend watching this show, first and foremost to witness the creative process that goes into making each tattoo. The flash challenges are interesting as the tattoo artists usually have to do some art work not involving a tattoo. I like most of the returning artists, except for one blowhard (St. Marq) and they are all worth having gotten this second shot. I will add that in the last couple of seasons, I (and some others I know who also watch) thought that there was some favoritism in who got in the top three and who ultimately won. Which brings me back to the point of some veterans not participating in every challenge. Maybe I'm just too cynical!

New twist, love and romance found, rules broken and America selects.....what a season
I love this show but was disappointed in how the contest at least some of them behaved. If you are not talented enough to win then I suppose you have to try to gang up on the better artist to stand a chance to get to the end.SPOILER SPOILER WARNING:Basically every week for some weeks they have a former artist join the completion. They get to choose the type of tattoo to be done, old school color or portrait black and white etc..So the new artist who on the show for the first time get all freaked out and join forces and make an alliance (what is this survivor? or big brother?) to take out the more talented new veteran artist.American got to pick which of the final 3 would make it to final 2. WHAT the heck the person did not even complete the tattoo and they get to advance? And then the winner is chosen by the judges who obviously break their own rules and give the win to the person who failed to complete both tattoos. I mean Ya if I am told to draw a 20 by 20 picture but I only draw an 8 by 8 guess what? I can concentrate on details and really buff up that 8 by 8..where as the fool who actually does a 20 by 20 has so much more area to cover in the same time..he has to miss out on getting in all the tiny details...Ya epic fail on judgesI am not saying the winner was not talented he is, but if the judges go by failing the challenges as they normally do, he did not complete either challenge and thus should not have won.

Worth it
Ink master is a great show. Silly drama, great tattoos. Awful tattoos lol. Bought the series during covid lockdown. Worth it.

Most Intense Season of Ink Master
INK MASTER REVENGE (Season 7) is undoubtedly the most intense season of all. It has some of the best tattooers in the country battling in out, week to week. It just gets better as the season goes on and most of the time it isn't a bad tattoo that sends someone home, but just not the best one out of the bunch. If you have never watched this series before I would recommend starting here because you will see some of the greatest tattoo competitions with some wonderful diversity of styles and it tests the competitors skills in every possible way.

The best 'Ink' show out there!
If you love tattoos and tattooing, this show is a must see! It hasn't gotten stale over the course of seven seasons and it's been a treat to have previous competitors come back, like Sausage and Cleen Rock One. There's some outstanding new talent this season too. I like how the format changes each season and this one has been cool because they're all having to tattoo more or less the same subject and the flash challenges have been excellent so far. And then there's Dave Navarro! I could look at that dude all day!

Best field of artists so far
In this season they had a mixed crowd of new contestants and past finalists. I enjoyed that the first half of the season wasnt spent getting rid of contestants that were making consistently jacked up tattoos.I had missed seasons 7 and 8 when they came out, so binge-watched them last week. I wish the contestants from 8 were as uniformly good as 7; in comparison, 7 was big on quality, 8 was big on drama and whining.
