I confess that I'm a huge fan of anything Nichole Robertson does. But this book? It is perfection. Particularly for any current, former or aspiring New Yorkers. She captures in her photographs what you see wandering the streets of your favorite hood. This is no collection of cliche NYC sights; it's the little things that make New York, well, New York. Bright yellow bananas at the corner fruit stand. Royal blue on a do-people-still-use-those? pay phone. The amazing black and white contrast of an average subway grate in the sidewalk. These are things you take for granted when you live there but that, luckily, Nichole's beautiful photographs capture for you to enjoy. Also makes an awesome gift for any New York lover on your list!

A must own picture book if you want to remember, or be reminded of, New York as it really is. This is all of the city in photographs that show its true nature as sometimes gritty, sometimes glamorous but always mercurial.

This is such a unique and inspiring look at New York. One doesn't usually think of New York in so many hues but Robertson's strength is in sussing out the colorful energy in the city that never sleeps. This was a wonderful visual journey!

This is small book for a photo book. Probably 7"x7". And it's full of semi-close-ups of mundane things that are colored against a grayish background. Signs. Bikes. Storefronts. Etc. I could see paying 3 bucks for this as a token gift. But for the money, this is ridiculous. Who is Nichole Robertson? Some big camera star?
