NakamichiNA201 CD/USB Receiver 50W X 4 with MP3

I can't believe the incredible sound quality from a once very prestigious brand. The price is truly austounding. How something so reasonably priced can work and sound fantastic is almost a miracle.

After I could no longer smack life into my Volvo 740 factory stereo I began my search for a new head unit that didn't look absolutely horrible.There are hardly any aftermarket options that look period-correct for 80s-90s cars, unless you feel like paying a questionable $500+..Surprised to find Nakamichi still makes car stereos and decided this unit would be a solid option.So far I'm very satisfied for the money spent.The clean looks blend in decently with the rest of the interior and Nakamichi is a classic brand to have displayed..The sound exceeds my expectations.I primarily use the auxiliary cord connected to my phone, preferred over Bluetooth, which this unit does not feature.I have it running through 4x pioneer speakers (6" coaxial iirc) and also an 10" seismic audio subwoofer.I don't care to crank it excessively, just appreciate an elevated sound system over the factory one which all of these components combined certainly deliver.Discovered the "Loud" button after about a month which took it to a whole new level. Awesome!My only nitpicks would be that the aux input location lines up with my shifter and gets in the way of my hand when putting in park. Would be a bigger issue if manual instead of automatic. The head unit adapter may be partially to blame since it no longer sits flush in the console like the factory unit did. I could find a cable with a 90° elbow fix that.Also I wish there were other color options for the screen illumination. The light blue doesn't really match with anything else but I can ignore it for now.This newer unit is definitely not in the same league as Nakamichi's vintage equipment, but the quality here more than delivers for the price.

Sound quality and volume are very good. Quality almost equal to my expensive Kenwood Excelon receiver and sound level is definitely better! If only it had Bluetooth it would be unbelievable good for the under $100 category. I actually got it renewed for under $30! Was actually unused!!!

I like the appearance and ease of use compared to a lot of car stereos. The radio seems fine, BUT there are annoying clicking and popping noises in the speakers when playing a CD. The noises occur in proportion to the speed of the CD spinning and are present even with the volume turned all the way down to zero. I tried several CDs, and the noise was still present, so I then connected two different stereos to the same wiring harness and had no such noises. Apparently the CD player mechanism in this stereo is generating some sort of electrical noise that's going straight to the amplifier. I'm returning this and reinstalling the 15 year old JVC stereo that I wanted to replace.

used it about 20 times and the display failed. CRAP CRAP CARP NO WARRANTY-RATE LESS THAN !

It fit the bill perfectly for what I needed; a nice brand radio in a classic car. I’m quite surprised they even sell Nak products this inexpensive. I’m sure it’s not of yesterday’s Nakamichi quality but it’ll do the job….all aftermarket head units are probably junk today anyways.
