Barry: Season 1 (DVD)

Loved it, will probably just watch the rest of Barry elsewhere though.

If you love Bill Hader, don't miss this show! Excellent acting from everyone, good writing and production, wonderful quirky, dark humor from Hader's mind. I watched this long after if had come out, and I'm so glad I did! Really enjoyed seeing him play a serious character. I'm sure I'll watch it again someday.

It was so nice to find such a well written show over such a unique concept. Would recommend

Bill Hader proves he is much more that just one of SNL's previous impressionist/skit man. This dark comedy series is one of the finest programs ever produced. It is truly engrossing, unique and deserves everyone's attention. Why HBO hasn't released season's 2 and 3 on DVD is a mystery (unless sales have been very low). For those of you who enjoyed the quality of series like Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Mr Inbetween and Rescue Me, this is a show you should not pass on. Season 4 (coming in April 2023) will be the last season and I can only hope that HBO will release this top quality series on DVD once the run is complete. The series is fast paced, original and doesn't drag on forever with only 4 seasons, nine 30 minute episodes per season. Buy the first season on DVD and maybe HBO will see that there is good reason to continue to release the remaining seasons of this series.

It took until Season Two for me to really appreciate this series. I didn't like at first that Bill Hader wasn't being the funny one. His character was like a stone in a river with all the other actors flowing around him doing most of the emoting and quirkiness. Then, almost like Barry gradually learns to act, so does Hader. You start seeing the depth of his character. Henry Winkler is astoundingly good in this, too. Anthony Carrigan as "Noho Hank" is a comedy revelation. Steven Root plays the nuts and bolts off his character as Barry's handler. The cast is fantastic. Superb show!

I have seen nothing like this series. It is written well enough that you can forget you are watching fiction. I like the way that Barry starts out a cold killing machine and is morphing toward a more well rounded soul. He has a personal code that makes you like him. The entire cast works well, but Henry Winkler is the stand out, of course. His trajectory is going the opposite of Barry. He began warm, professional and focused. But life keeps pushing him around, and he seems poised for anything by the end of Season 2. I watched this DVD then streamed Season 2, and it was an awesome binge. Can't hardly wait for Season 3!

I worked as an actress in L.A. for 12 years and this show is spot on. Henry Winkler is perfect and hilarious as the drama teacher. The show is compelling, thrilling and extremely funny!

Was hoping I could find seasons 2 & 3 on disc as well after I bought this one but after doing a bunch of looking around the web it looks like they haven't been released ....seems dumb to release 1 season and not the rest but it is what it is . Watched the episodes over 2 nights and really enjoyed them . Will keep looking for the other seasons . Internet forums are guessing that after the 4th season has aired and made enough $ for the creators they may release the whole series as a box set ? We'll see .
