I can't say I felt it was very strong at all.IT SMELLS STRONG of CAULIFLOWER AND HERBS when you first pour boiling water on it, but the TASTE reminds me vaguely of...STUFFING! It is fairly mild, but for me it had a very pleasant taste, not overdone. ALTHOUGH TASTES ARE SO PARTICULAR. ANYWAY, out of the TWO, DEFINITELY PREFERRED THE HERB to the RANCH.YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY :-)OK, while I have a microwave, seemed easier just to boil a couple cups of water.Did that and poured over....now for PROS/CONSCONS: FIRST thing I noticed was SMELL. I think that is the cauliflower I am smelling, mixed with the ranch and when pouring boiling water over, NOT the best smell. BUT it dissipates fast.ALSO IF YOU REALLY must watch your sodium, this is fairly high. Especially if you eat half or the whole packet!PROS:TASTE: IMPRESSED. NOT a huge fan of CAULIFLOWER or RANCH, but sounded healthy and thought what the heck? NOT BAD. Neither a STRONG Cauliflower or overbearing Ranch taste. Just kind of like a slightly spicier mashed potato. Next time I will likely try another flavor.INGREDIENTS: At least the first two ingredients are potatoes and cauliflower, that's good. But there are some ingredients I could do without. Palm oil, corn syrup solids, different flavors have some different ingredients. So I say read the ingredients which are easy to view in the images and decide for yourself. For an INSTANT mix, not the worst I have seen.FAT/CALS/SODIUM: Not bad re fat and calories, even if you have a whole packet for lunch or dinner. Sodium is a TAD HIGH especially if you are having any other high sodium foods that day. SO THOSE LOOKING AT SODIUM, you may want to avoid or just do occasionally.QUANTITY/PRICE: GOOD QUANTITY. FYI, IF this is all I am having for lunch or dinner, YEP will eat the whole packet, but calories and fat still not bad. And a good price for what you get.I GAVE IT A THREE, as it was fairly tasty, but not great. I want to try other flavors and will update. With just water, there's not much flavor, so at first I added loads of pepper and some butter. Still, something was missing, so I added some canned table creme (would have preferred milk but I was out), and a can of sweet corn for some texture. Much better, but still not quite as good as my number one: Betty Crocker Butter Flavored Mashed Potatoes, which of course are out of stock everywhere due to Thanksgiving.I like the idea of the lightened carb load, but I hated paying $17.32 for 10 bags which are usually $1.00 per 3.5 oz bag. The expiration date is July 2021, and I think if the price came down a bit, I might buy this again in a pinch.
