Where is the turmeric originally sourced from? I ask due to the reports of contaminated turmeric coming from India and Bangladesh.

Turmeric is originally sourced from India. The contamination of turmeric is not a mainstream, but there were some cases of turmeric contaminated mostly by lead and mostly in Bangladesh. However, that kind of turmeric does not get in into our product because of the strictest manufacturing standards in the factory. One 500 mg capsule of NovaSOL Curcumin blend contains 30 mg of curcumin. There is a study on NovaSOL Curcumin available and I quote it below. In this study, healthy subjects took 500 mg of NovaSOL Curcumin blend. Curcumin made up 6% of the blend. These 6% correspond to 30 mg of curcumin (500 x 0,06 = 30). Our capsule has the same amount of curcumin inside.

The amount of curcumin you take is actually not so important. Much more important is how much you retain.

Research shows that NovaSOL Curcumin is 185 times more bioavailable than native curcumin. Bioavailability is the proportion of a substance that enters the body and has an active effect. Therefore, 30 mg of NovaSOL Curcumin correspond to approximately 5.5 grams of native curcumin (30 x 185 = 5550).

Native curcumin is so ineffective because its poor bioavailability and high instability at physiological conditions. Native curcumin is poorly bioavailable because of its natural characteristics of water insolubility, poor absorption, fast metabolism, limited tissue distribution, and rapid excretion.

NovaSOL Curcumin is fully soluble in water and fat and highly pH stable throughout the digestive process. This allows to achieve a bioavailability factor of 185 compared to native curcumin. This translates to 185 times more curcumin in your blood.

NovaSOL Curcumin is also much more effective compared to curcumin with piperine. Researchers concluded that curcumin with piperine is only 20 times more bioavailable than native curcumin. Please see the research article quoted below.

I read that to get the benefit of curcumin you need to take with black pepper but you state no black pepper what is the reason for that?

You only need black pepper when it is in powder form. It is hard for your body to absorb it, when it is powdered. However, studies have shown that it is absorbed much easier, when it is paired with black pepper. But..... black pepper can irritate your gastrointestinal tract, contributing to more inflammation. And black pepper also has a high risk of mould comtamimation, which can build up in your body and slow you down, over time. But liquid form is much more easier to absorb, therefore removing the need for black pepper. Curcumin is fat-soluble. That means it dissolves in fat, and then it is stored in your body’s fat tissue. So, in supplement form, it works even better when it is combined in oil (liquid form). I personally prefer it in liquid form, as it doesn’t leave me with a peppery aftertaste, that constantly comes back on me. I hope that this has answered your question?!
