Would this be too basic for a 6 1/2 yr old that loves any of these kinds of cars?

To answer your question…my little guy was 3 1/2 yrs old when he got this toy. It was perfect for him. One year later, he hasn’t played with it very much. It is a basic transformer. Other transformers are more complicated and seem to hold his attention longer. Surprisingly, he knows all their names. At 6 1/2, playtime gets more intricate so he might think this toy more for someone younger.

Are instructions included so that you know it transforms?

I don’t remember if it had instructions, but it is super simple to transform because it’s for very little kids. Not complicated at all. Literally just fold and done.
