What are the handle and blade made of?

While the packaging doesn't say, I'm fairly certain that the handle is either cast steel, or stamped mild steel, while the blade is carbon steel or stainless. This is the most solid and reliae can opener I have ever had. It will probably be in service long after I am gone.

Can someone submit a video using the device? i've read that directions are in japanese. want to watch it actually working! thanks

This item is just a scaled up version of the U.S. Army P-38 type can opener. There are YouTube videos of how they operate.

Does anyone really know whether this is made by Korin or some other company called 'Ideal' as it says on the product and the box it came in?

It's made by Shinkousha. The company name is printed in the big, brushstroke-looking font on the bottom of the back of the box. "Ideal" seems like a brand name they use for some of their products.
