I have been using Detroit Grooming beard butter since they were a startup company 10 or 11 years ago, and they even sold straight razors. I have veered off the path to try other products and always run right back. It is absolutely perfect in weight, texture, oil, and how it sits on your beard without leaving any greasiness or residue. A little goes a long way. My favorites are Corktown and Traverse City. You get two really unique scents so when you need a change, it's perfect.

The Belle Isle beard butter arrived today. The product had leaked and was all over the exterior. The seal inside the cover seemed intact so I'm not sure how this happened. The weather here was in the high 40s so it wasn't extremely hot. After opening the product, whatever scent was present was difficult to detect. That is to say, it didn't smell anything like expected. I had read other reviews that said the scent lasted all day. Hard to imagine when it doesn't even smell in the container. I'll update once I try it for a bit. This product is expensive enough per ounce, so the mere fact that a fair amount of the product had leaked out is disappointing. Once again, I'll have to update this review in terms of the actual product once I have the chance to use it.Addendum: I wrote directly to the manufacturer via email and they replied that same evening. They apologized for the experience and offered to replace it without any hesitation. It took 11 days to arrive and was intact thus time. The scent is still very subtle, which is somewhat disappointing. What I can smell is pleasant. The product itself, in terms of how it makes my medium length beard feel, is very good. It melt to a very smooth consistency and is very easy to apply. It makes my beard feel very soft for the couple if weeks I've been using it for now. I think the company did a great job with their customer service, and the weak scent not withstanding, this product delivers on its promise to be a good moisturizer for mens beards. Updating to 4 stars (minus 1 for the scent).

This beard butter from Detroit Grooming is a game-changer! It keeps my beard soft, tames flyaways, and hydrates without feeling greasy. The scent is fantastic but not overpowering. Definitely a must-have for beard care!

Did not notice a thicker hair after application. Seems way too oily and makes the beard look like it’s just been showered in water or sweat.I suspect that the oils do hydrate the beard, so functionally it probably delivers on some promises made.Compared to other products I used this is a bust though.

The product is amazing—it's not heavy, has no overpowering scent, and leaves my beard looking and feeling amazing. The only drawback is the price for the amount of product you get, which is not a lot, so I have to use it sparingly or alternate between regular coconut oil and a dash of Shea butter.

I thought I wrote a scathing review for this product but can't seem to find it. Maybe I decided it was too scathing? Regardless, I'll try to get through this quickly. I purchased the 313 scent based on several glowing reviews, stating this was one of the better scents. I know scents are certainly be subjective, but it seemed that toasted vanilla and amber would be nice. I couldn't have been more wrong. It's incredibly pungent, and has a super strong chemical fabricated smell that sticks in my nostrils. I could barely put up with it before I washed it out, and then it still lingered.However, I liked the consistency and effect it had. Used in smaller amounts I could suffer through it, and after a couple of hours the smell wears off. I continued my search. Finally just for giggles I tried the Belle Isle scent, and what a difference! If not for the actual product, I'd swear it was a different brand entirely. Belle Isle is fresh and subtle, at first I couldn't smell anything taking a sniff out of the jar. Once I started rubbing it in, I was detecting very light and bright citrus with a mild lavender background. Winner winner chicken dinner!So glad I gave it another chance. I was afraid they'd have the same sort of fake chemical stench of the other product. Hey, if you like it that's great. Some people like country music and others... In the end, this is the best butter product I've found. Some are more like cold cream, a little wetter and takes a while to dry. Others are like a balm. This is stiff but starts to melt nicely, and doesn't star to run like some other brands. It stays put, and tames those fly aways!Pros:- Good consistency- Moisturizes and holds- Spreads smoothly- Stays putCons:- My dog is constantly trying to eat my beard- Some scents may be off puttingI'm happy now, this appears to be my go to when out and about. 5 Stars, great product.
