Could someone explain the actual "gameplay" of the game?  how does it set up?  what does a turn look like?  how do you win/lose?  etc.  (thank you!)

How to Play: The object of the game is to get all three dinosaurs safely to Dinosaur Island before the volcano erupts! Work together to move the dinosaur movers around the board and uncover the matching dinosaurs under the fern tokens. On your turn, roll the die. If you roll a number, move any dinosaur mover the indicated number of spaces any direction on the path. Then turn over one fern token anywhere on the board. If you reveal rocks, bones or other items, flip the token back over. If you reveal a dinosaur, and the dinosaur mover of the same species is in the same habitat area, move the dinosaur moved and matching token to Dinosaur Island. You just helped a dinosaur escape!If you reveal a dinosaur but the dinosaur mover of the same species is not in the same habitat as the token, flip the token back over. Dinosaur movers and matching tokens must be in the same habitat to help a dinosaur escape! If you turn over the T-Rex, RUN! Move each of the dinosaur movers in play back to a start space. If you roll a volcano, place volcano piece number 1 in the stand on the board. If you can find and help all three lost dinosaurs escape to Dinosaur Island before completing the 3D volcano puzzle, you all win! What is a cooperative game? It's a game where everyone plays together, no one is left out, and everyone has fun! Traditional games tend to have one winner and one (or many) losers! In a cooperative game, the players work as a team against a common obstacle, not against each other.

Does this game appeal to teenagers? I have kids 4-14.

We purchased this game for our 4 year old. Depends on your older kids whether they would be interested in playing with the younger kids. The game itself is geared for 4-6 age group. We have played it as a family with our 10 & 12 year olds. Game play is quick and fun, I think it is perfect for big kids to play along with the younger kids for that reason.

We have the peaceable kingdom hoot owl game. is this basically the same game played in the same sort of way, or is it different enough?

would this game be too easy for a 7 and 9 year old?

"Winning" this game consists of a combination of chance (dice rolls) and memory skills. This means that each game plays out differently and there isn't a way for the older child to win more easily or quickly than a younger child. We play this often with our 6 year old son and it remains exciting to us all, especially once the volcano starts to build through certain dice rolls. The game time is relatively short and very replayable. The teamwork aspect is also very unique. I believe children both 7 and 9 years old will enjoy this, especially if the parents join in.
