My son got this for his 10th birthday. And for Xmas he got some add on’s. He loves it! And my 12-to loves it too! It all works great. We just wish the cardboard bottoms were plastic. But so far it’s great. They just make up their own tracks. The book that came with it gives great track directions as well. Added Dec 10, 2020: My son asked for more sets for his birthday and Christmas. A year later they boys and friends still play with it. It's set up in the livingroom now as he had his birthday a few days ago. He got the lifter set from my mom and he'll get more for xmas. We keep the flat cardboard pieces in the thin lifter box and all the plastic pieces in the original box. Still holding up well.

Best gift ever. Has entertained me, daughter in her 20s, and the recipient, an 8 year old girl, for HOURS. Easy to understand, yet to build cool stuff requires experimentation and some physics principles, all easily learnable by an 8 year old in a fun and engaging manner. I think this toy will still be played for a long time and I'm already imagining expansion packs for later gifts. Super fun. Cannot go wrong. Very fun to play with your child, as opposed to other toys which just are annoying. Important conversations can occur during the build, too, or just problem solve together. Solid five stars.

Bought this from my daughter as a mini graduation present from her elementary school. It really was a bigger present than I realized! Absolutely love this as a dad daughter activity. They're challenging but not too hard and she's totally into it. It's definitely a starter kit so you can run out of their suggestions after a month. But I only have favorable things. It's creative, fun, great to do with your daughter or son and just overall amazing

If your child likes marble run, constructors and assemble parts - this is the perfect acquisition. My son dreamed of Gravitrax he is a true fan of these things and he is very happy now. The idea is a very good, interesting game, a variety of tracks, it stimulates imagination and creativity and patience. But I want a little better quality plastic. As a parent I paid $ 60 for Gravitrax, I'm a little disappointed because the platform that is put on the floor is made of cardboard?!?!?! But, my son is very pleased that this is the most important thing. If your child likes this, buy it.

My 7-year-old has been asking for a marble run for years now, but I've hesitated because they all look so cheaply made. Even though Gravitrax is plastic and cardboard (which made me nervous at first) it has held up really well. I love how the Gravitrax is helping my son learn through trial and error. He loves building his own tracks and making his own stunts with the marbles. (The included booklets also have excellent setups to create.) Nothing makes me happier than when he runs to the table to work on a Gravitrax build after school rather than to watch TV. My only complaint is that Ravensburger doesn't sell all of the expansions in the United States. We want to try the tunnel and elevator! *In the video, we do have a few of the extra accessories- an extra Magnetic Cannon and a Hammer. My son created this build on his own, and it took some experimenting to get it to run perfectly. He was learning and having fun! Update July 2020: Everything is still holding up very well, and they did release the tunnel and elevator in the US, so we have both of those expansions now. (Of course there are other cool expansions not yet available in the US.) I still have only positive things to say about Gravitrax!

Once we got oriented to the pieces, we all had a blast! My grandsons just wanted to start building right away, and my 91 year old father was intrigued. Amazing to find a toy that appeals to the age range of 8 to 91. I would suggest that you work through the first instructions...there aren't any words, but once you grasp the concept, it is easy to start creating. My grandsons (8 & 11) worked only the first few designs, then went crazy creating. I gave it only 4 stars for sturdiness. The silver ramps don't fasten securely onto the hexagons, so if the puzzle gets bumped, tend to slip off. Doesn't seem to bother my grandsons. I went ahead and purchased the expansion pack and was glad that I did since the boys had fun building higher puzzles. I also purchased the magnetic cannon...wow! fun! I still think this is expensive, but I know the product is well thought out. I am buying other accessories for Christmas! I can't wait to play it with my grandsons and Dad!

We purchased this for our 11 year old son for Christmas and he loves it. It's like a marble run for big kids and It comes with a book full of ways to set up the system, which I think is a great jumping off point for designing your own layouts. I didn't have to help him get started at all and he has declared it "the greatest marble run ever". If a child in your life enjoyed the plastic marble run toys in the past or is into Legos or K'nex, this would be a great option for something new. The mat pieces that you set it up on are made of cardboard, as noted by other reviewers, but it is thick and I don't think it will be a problem.

Cons: Initial setup can be complex. Additional expansions are pricey. Needs ample space for building. Pieces don't always securely connect. Marbles are quite small (tough for kids).

Bought this for my 8yo. He is enjoying it a lot. He has played with many other marble run toys. He says this is the best so far!

I offered this to my 9 year old granddaughter and she couldn't stop playing with it. She started out following directions, but after about 15 minutes she made her own, more complex designs. I'll get her more of this.
