I have been meaning to purchase a culinary torch for quite a while, and I am so glad I did. There are so many times that I wanted to just brown the top of a dish without having to go back into the oven. This works really well and browns in seconds. I have over done it once already but still learning ways to make it useful.So far the most common use is with breakfast. I stopped trying to turn the eggs for "over medium" and just let them stay a little longer on the bottom before putting them on the plate and using the torch to lightly finish the top. Way more consistent and appealing. It also is great for going a nice crispy top to sausage patties; melt butter on pancakes and biscuits after they are on the plate. This makes routine cooking more fun.This torch is easy to handle and makes quick work of everything. Not a necessity, but a nice kitchen item to finish off your handiwork.While the really pure butane is for culinary, it still can be used for any other application at home, but not visa-versa.
