RiceSelect Black Rice, Whole-Grain Rice

I have never had black rice before but WOW! What a difference!! This turns a crazy dark purple color when cooked and is the best tasting rice I have ever had. I cook it in unsalted chicken stock and wow! Seriously, unless you're a completely picky eater, try it! Great for your health!

I had black rice at a sushi restaurant initially and learned how incredibly nutritious it is so i bought this one. It’s got great texture, a bit of a subtle nutty flavor and was easy to cook in my rice cooker. I will definitely be repurchasing again.

Something Different

This is almost the forbidden rice I wanted. The nutty flavor isn't there but the taste is still great. Takes some time to prepare compared to white rice but it's worth it. This black rice is not the forbidden rice that has the nutty flavor. I still like this but will buy the real forbidden rice next time.

I follow the directions as far as measurements, but sometimes use other ingredients. Instead of water or milk, I use the amt, only I use coconut milk instead to equal the amt water or milk. I think it also calls for brown sugar. I can't do the suger, so instead, I use sugar free syrup. The black rice has a nutty flavor & w/ coconut & the nutty rice flavor, it's so good for breakfast, just add milk & reheat. Or I love it for lunch & a nap on a rainy day. It takes a long time to cook, it's worth it. EDIT: The first time I had black rice for dessert was, I think a Thai restaurant, it might have been another type of oriental restaurant. I know that I loved the curry & when I started frequently this restaurant, I was told to call ahead to give them time to make the black rice pudding. The first time I went there, I didn't get to taste it, but ever since I tasted that, I order it everytime it's available. It actually turns a really dark purple & many countries don't serve dessert, but this is the best!
