CHEESY!!! CHEESY!!! CHEESY!!!
We downsized into a smaller house and got rid of our big entertainment center and its associated "stuff." We bought a much smaller, really nice, modern-looking, black glass and dark brown wood tv stand which saved us lots of room. We liked the look of the black glass and decided to look for a small, black glass-topped table to use for our laptop. After months of looking in stores and on-line, we decided on this cart. Its size was perfect for our smaller area and it was black glass/black paint. We ordered it from Amazon and Wayfair. The following is my review of the experience starting when I opened the box:1. Packing styrofoam was totally broken down so when I opened the box there were suddenly millions of tiny balls all over the living room. Millions! Two plus hours just to clean that up and I'm still finding the little buggers. The vendor (Wayfair) had to know the internals were like that because the entire (undamaged) box was totally shrink-wrapped with ALL the shipping and packing labels on the outside of the wrap! Bad on ya, Wayfair! They have a low customer rating on every site they sell on or for and now I know why!2. Assembly was fairly easy in spite of the horrible instructions which were just a badly copied page with a few sketches (with no written step instructions) on one side and a parts "list" on the other. I studied the sketches and parts list for a long time while holding and looking at the parts until I figured out what was necessary then proceeded. My many years of putting together lots of stuff at Christmas, etc. finally paid off!3. The three "wood" parts are CHEEEEEESY! They are some kind of particle or press board that has a black tape-like something-or-other totally wrapping them. The taped edge seams that are visable after assembly are very noticeable and we will be looking for something to hide that.4. The black tempered glass desktop is pitiful. The tempered glass and silver inserts are ok but they threw silver glitter in the black paint on the back of the clear glass when they sprayed it on. I guess this where they got the "sparkling glass" descriptor in the item description. It certainly wasn't clear to me that this is what they were intending and the effect is ridiculous and definitely not what I wanted.5. The supplied hardware worked ok with the exception of one of the "cap" nuts. One of them popped its top in assembly, exposing the screw threads. I'm going back to Amazon and Wayfair for one each replacement.6. We only wanted this for our laptop so did not include the side stand when we assembled the unit so I cannot say anything about this except the "wood" is as described in item #3.7. The assembled size is 19" deep x 24" wide x 28 7/8" tall. Note: this is WITHOUT the side cpu stand.8. The castors are cheap and don't roll easily but the unit is light enough to be picked up and moved with no problems.Final thoughts:- Wayfair will never get my business again - the packaging was that bad! What a mess!!!- The desk is a little shaky but is still stable enough for vigorously using my laptop.- We were hoping this would "blend" with and somewhat match the tv stand. Not even close. It looks just like it is - cheesy and cheap.- I am disappointed with this vendor, Wayfair, and Amazon.- All that said, this is still worth the fifty-five dollars total I spent for it. It's just not what I wanted or needed.
