This classic boat shoe is perfect for a summer outing by land or by sea. The round, hand-stitched moc toe and two-eye laces are decidedly nautical, while the heel cup provides heel support wherever you go. The rubber outsole yields a strong grip-perfect for a day on the docks.

Excessive soul for narrow width buyers.
I was replacing a old pair of Sebago and since they are no longer available in narrow, I bought these. They have a lot stiffer soul than the Sebago, much stiffer than I prefer, but seem well built and should last along time. My biggest complaint is that the soul is much wider than the upper itself. I think that when they make them they use the same soul for what ever size they’re making whether making a narrow, medium or wide width. The edge of the soul sticks out as much as a half inch around the ball and toe area and I’m afraid I’m going to catch it on something and trip. To break it in I used some Fiebing’s neatsfoot oil and also some Kiwi mink oil, rubbing in generously to soften . I will be using them for casual outings without a lot of walking. Although the upper is breaking in, the soul is still to stiff to do a lot of walking. I’ve got dress shoes that are more comfortable than these. They’re like strapping boards to the bottom of your feet. UPDATE: I bought some Dr. Scholl’s Tri-Comfort insoles. They help the comfort a lot. They’re 3/4 length, but I trimmed some off too.

Sasquatch Got New Shoes...
...And are they ever nice and comfortable. I was tickled with my first pair of Rockports and that was several years ago. While they have been demoted to dog walking and other dog related activities they are still fantastic albeit a bit darker and worn but not as much as I expected after all the wear and tear. These Perth Boat Shoes are a notch above the older ones and are a bunch more comfortable which I attribute to the new arch support material added since my first pair. The soles are a tad softer but not so soft that you feel as if you are walking on soft foam. With the construction of the heel's end or however it could be said there is no rubbing of the heel of the shoe. That is a winner by saving blisters and, when worn, socks do not get thinner. It's not a big deal but leather laces make a difference and these are just right. Synthetic laces usually come untied when I do not want them to come untied. Given certain delimiters it is not always easy to tie my shoes when the laces come untied so this is a good point on the Perth's. After a full shopping job or 2 hours of walking no untied and no blisters or other pains.I'd say that the sizing is accurate but that is meaningless since you have not had to walk a mile in my shoes and probably would not want to but the sizing for these shoes is for me a true 13W. Regardless of the others this is the boat shoe for me.

Shoe Strings Messed Up.
Shoe Strings are Messed Up. They are not like most shoe strings. They are attached on one side. Very disappointing!

Shoe only has 1/2 of an insole...very uncomfortable.
This is an update to my earlier review. I returned the first pair and then also the replacement pair i received because they were uncomfortable and both pairs had only half of an insole. I am 74 years old, and in all my life and all the pairs of shoes I’ve ever worn, there has never been 1/2 of an insole. The front part of the shoe under the ball of your foot and your toes is just raw shoe bottom. I am still wearing the same style of Rockport shoes as these, that I bought 15 years ago, and they have a full insole and they have always been comfortable. I have no idea what Rockport has done to this latest manufacturing version, but it slips up and down on the heel being too loose, and the 1/2 insole construction is absolutely ridiculous. Very uncomfortable shoes.Previous Review:I don't know if the pair I got is defective or if Rockport makes them like this now. The inside of these shoes have only half of an insole...from the heel to the middle of the arch area. See the attached picture. There is no leather insole under your toes. I have never seen a pair of shoes like this in my life. I called Rockport 3 times over a 2 week period, trying to get them to do something for me, and their customer service did not respond. Finally, all they said was to return them to Amazon. Buyer beware. These are VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I couldn't keep them on my feet for longer than a minute. I am going to ask for a replacement pair assuming that this pair is defective and that they all are not made this way. I will update my review after I get them. I have worn MANY pairs of Rockport shoes over the years and have usually loved them...but these are pitiful.
