Gavin & Stacey: Season 2

Sweet, funny, full of character
I feel so lucky that I discovered this show, which is utterly charming and often hilarious. I find it even more enjoyable than "Doc Martin," the British comedy that it most resembles (to me), and am glad it's less slap-stick-y and less over-the-top than another favorite, "The Vicar of Dibley.""Gavin & Stacey" runs in 1/2 hour episodes, and is filled with quirky, likable characters. I'd expected this show to include the token snarky character or nasty undertones, but it doesn't. Some of them are a bit one-dimensional, but these two extended families interact with warmth, ease, and outright affection.Neither did I expect to learn so much (as an American) about the England/Wales distinction. After watching the first 2 seasons of the show, I've developed an ear for the Welsh accent and an eye for the red dragon that appears on its flag. One note: British humor can be dry as well as bawdy. There are a few quick jokes (some visual) in "Gavin & Stacey" that made me do a double-take ("Whaaaaaa?") -- you'd never hear/see them on an American sitcom! But it's all part of the charm. The only sad thing about diving into Season 3 is that it'll be over. : (

Still Funny
I had viewed the earlier season and couldn't get enough of this sweet and funny crew. While I love G&S "Smithy" is my favorite. James Corden brings touching sentiment to the character you can't help but love. I wish I could understand the accents a bit better as I know I miss alot, but I'm already laughing. Corden and 'Nessa wrote this series and he went on to Broadway in "One Man Two Guvnors" winning a Tony award for his performance...I saw this live and he was amazing! G&S is one of the best Brit comedies I've viewed...and I viewed many......T Guinta

This is such a funny show and where I first discovered James Corden
This is such a funny show and where I first discovered James Corden. I had found the first Season at Barnes and Nobles but someone told me I could find the others Seasons on Amazon also at a cheaper price. I'm so glad they told me because now I can find a lot of my brit shows on amazon at a better nice than I used to pay at Barnes and Nobles.

I loves it, I do!
I love this show so much that it’s one of the few I actually want to own. There’s a lot of raunchy humor but a lot of heart in this show. I wish there were more than just three seasons!

Hilarious
If you haven't checked out this series....get it!! My wife is a fan and eventually converted me into one as well. We'd seen season one, bought it and watched it a hundred times and loved it. Waited some time to find season 2 since we don't get BBC. Ended up buying seasons 2 & 3 w/ the christmas special and it was well worth the money. This series is full of laughs and the story builds and revisits several good inside jokes. Highly recommended.

Very funny adult comedy.
Adult comedy . There is a reason fans demanded season 2. Put kids to bed and laugh. Addresses life's drama with situations others would avoid.

Wished it would never end.
My hubby and I really enjoyed the 1st season on that other movie streaming site. After waiting forever for it to arrive streaming on that site I gave in and purchased season 2 and 3 on Amazon. Its not so much the main characters that reel me in, its the supporting cast. Warm, understated and sweet, with that British dry humor. Wish there were more shows like this.

Pure fun
It only took a weekend to watch all three seasons, because it is simply a lot of fun. Ruth Jones is a scream, Joanna Page is bubbly, and Rob Bryden is a lovable dope. All set in Wales, even the bits supposedly in Essex- it's modern and It's silly, but it's one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Let go and have a laugh.

Its not called Barry's Island,it doesn't belong to somebody called Barry does it?
I enjoyed this series but personally for me series 1 was betterSeries 2 ticked all the usual boxes.Funny, yes, charming, yes but for some reason I didn't like Stacy as much in this series as she became a bit of a whinger.Ness and Smithy were the stars this time.I love Ruth Jones, shes 'geniune',Smithy is,as usual, top notch as are Uncle Bryn & Pam & Mick. Also,Smithys sister was a good addition as well. The storyline of Dawny,Pete and the threesome was a bit silly if the truth be known,I cringed and I'm in no way a prude.I would dearly love to know what happened on the fishing trip with Jason & Uncle Bryn and why Dave from Daves coaches hasn't blown the gaff and told Nessa.Does this mean it will come out in the Christmas special? All in all,a good effort but I really do think I spoiled it for myself by watching Season 2 of Benidorm before I watched this, the humour in G & S seemed a bit bland in comparison.

Superb.
Where series 1 of this excellent sitcom was hilarious, this second series uses a great deal more drama and pathos than the first run. But it doesn't really matter; by now you've come to love all the characters, you want to know what's going to happen to them, you feel for them and you genuinely care for them. It's hard to pay a screen-writer a greater compliment, I think. The only thing is, I do think it could have been funnier - it is a sitcom after all. But the writing IS great, and the whole cast superb. A very, very fine comedy indeed.

Gavin & Stacey Series 2
Welcome second series of this popular comedy, however it is not quite up to the standard of the first suggesting perhaps that the writers are starting to run out of ideas. The Christmas special should have wrapped it all up nicely but apparently there is to be a third series, a shame as it would have been nice to go out on a high and be remembered as a minor classic British sitcom rather than stretch the idea way beyond it's potential as is the case for example with most American sitcoms (which usually have little to commend them in the first place).Nevertheless enjoy this & hope the third series wont tarnish the reputation too much!

series 2 discs won't play without the commentary
excellent program of course BUT series two absolutely refuses to play without the actors/writers commentary which does spoil things rather if all you wanted to was watch it and enjoy it. In desperation I bought from Amazon a DVD of series two on it's own hoping to replace the discs in the box set but that had the same problem. I suspect it's a fault of the BBC rather than Amazon but it has spoiled my enjoyment and put me off watching the series again.

i had not bothered to watch this series on tv ,but my 9yr old niece bought series 1 just after xmas and has caught me for series 2 and 3 {quite smart},she is addicted to them and after viewing them with her {not much choice} i have got to admit the series is extremely funny and possibly the best comedy written since only fools and horse's .if your a little slow and have not seen this series just like i was then treat yourself at once because its very wity and true to life and 90% of people will find this series very funny indeed.
