Easy to read even from a distance
I can read the temperature on the unit from 20 feet away, that's good! I cannot comment on the alarm features for this device because I use this for my aquarium and so far have had no out of bounds temperatures. I would recommend this for your aquarium because aquarium heaters tend to fail. I lost about 25 fish when an old heater's thermostat broke in the on position and cooked all my fish
