ディジタル時計がもてはやされるこの頃、自分はメカニズム・アナログの世界に未だこだわっています。 スイス・ラショードフォンバレーまで出かけて、時計技術のメッカを見てきました。 その時、ミュージアムの本屋で購入した時計理論のテキストブックに加え、作り方の具体的な教科書？を 探していました。この本は、私の知りたいことを満たしてくれました。

全て英文ですが、図解が分かりやすいので頑張れば理解できます。

時計師であり、時計学者のダニエルズ博士の集大成というべき機械式時計のバイブル。時計の基礎、理論、製作法まで多岐渡る内容が網羅されています。時計パーツ作成のコツまで解説されていますが、脱進機の理論についての解説は白眉です。特に、氏が考案したCo-Axial Escapementの解説は、必読です。英文ですが、図による解説が多いので、理解はさほど困難ではありません。ハードカバーの大著であり、内容を考えると、破格の値段です。機械式時計を愛する人の座右の書に勧める最高の1冊です。

英語が苦手で読むのに苦戦してますが、いつか読破したいと考えてます。

海外から発送が行なっている見たいでコロナの影響で予定より2週間くらい遅く届きました。それ以外は大丈夫でした。本は英語で述べていて状況も問題なかったです。

It’s not just a guide, it’s a blueprint for achieving excellence in the field. An absolute must-read if you dream of becoming a master watchmaker! And as a plus, it looks great on my coffee table
