gives good chop
I did not think I needed this. I have been using a small saw for 30 years to cut my dripper hoses. Worked OK. Found this, took a chance, and -- what a game changer. Whacks off 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch tubes easy as can be. Has a clip so that you do not cut everything when you are transporting it. Only problem is you need three hands to really use it, or two hands and a lot of cussing, but when it works, bird sing, sun shines, and angels appear in the heavens. I recommend it. If you have 3/4 inch, you are outta luck.

An effective tool for installing drippers
All-in-all an effective tool. I laid out approximately 50 ft of 1/2 inch drip hose. Inserted 30 or so drippers. Required the same force as pushing in without any tool - I did not pre punch a hole to insert into, why make an extra step. Care must be taken that the dripper is held in with the free hand to keep the dripper from falling out of the tool. The big advantage is that with the leverage your fingers and hands will not fatigue and you’ll not has slight mishaps as making holes that won’t secure the dripper properly or pinching your fingers or kinking the hose.

Ya, you could use something else, but this is a great tool
Such a simple item, but completely saved my bacon and time, and that was just from using the little arms to stretch out the pipe. I guess I could have used one of my other tools and wing it, but this is better than using one of my more expensive tools that also don't want to get wet.

Wow!
This thing is a wonder tool. We recently had to have our main irrigation line replaced for about 25 feet in two sections after a fencing company broke it all to pieces and never told us. Once the new line was installed, we added a few more plants and used scissors to try to poke holes in the line for emitters. That… did not work out well. We ended up having to replace the line… again. Haha So when we replaced it again, we bought this handy tool to cut the line where it was punctured and punch holes for the new emitters. The amount of headache and time this little tool saved is beyond what I thought. Just buy it dummy :)

Works ok, could be better.
This works ok, but the punch spike makes a massive hole that allows water to spurt out around the connectors...kind of wasteful. The spike could be a much smaller diameter. The cutter for the hose works well.

Useful tool
We bought a new house and the backyard sprinkler system was broken beyond repair. Even with professional help, I was unable to locate the sprinkler valves for the back yard. So instead I set out to research and install my own drip irrigation to automate the watering process, mostly because I am way too lazy to water my backyard every other day. I chose the rainbird family of products because of the positive reviews and the plethora of options. I chose drip emitters for the trees and shrubs in my yard. I chose 1/2 in tubing for the systems backbone. Then 1/4 in tubing to run out to the individual plants, flowers, trees, shrubs... There are two ways you can install them. You can install them straight into the 1/2 in tubing, like I did. The other way is to install a 1/4 in coupler into the 1/2 in tubing, then run a 1/4 tube to the plant. Then connect the drip emitter at that end. I chose this configuration because some people complain about the water pressure pushing the emitter off the end of the tubing. I bought this took in order to connect the 1/2 in tubing with the Tee and elbow fittings. + Good price. + Very easy to use. Use this to flare the ends of the 1/2 in tubing. Then snap the fitting into the tool and use it to push the tubing onto the barbed end of the Tee or Elbow. I personally dislike special tools, but they are only a couple bucks each. I saved a ton of money by doing this project myself ($250 total cost), so to me it was worth it to get this specialized tool. + Very happy with the performance so far. - Nothing thus far. I am very happy with the performance of this tool. Ill update this review as necessary.

Being an older person. I really struggled to punch holes in pipes when setting up an irrigation system. Especially when I was bending down on my knees in an awkward place in the garden! All I'd ever seen and were sold are those "difficult to apply pressure to" hand held punches. On top of that it was always difficult to cut the plastic pipes squarely when cutting a length from the roll I had purchased. Using a hacksaw, even a mini one, did not "cut it". This combination Cutter/Hole punch is an easy to use answer to both problems. Based on my experience, I highly recommend this product.

I ordered a RainBird drip irrigation system, part by part, to water my vegetable garden (with large raised beds). One of the challenges we face is that we move the vegetables from bed to bed each year, and so it used to take a lot of time to adjust and rebuild our old system as the plants changed places. With my new RainBird system I was able to set up a single long 1/4" drip tubing (with 6" hole spacing) for each bed so that it can be laid out quickly around all the plants, the closer the spacing the more water etc.. The backbone of the system is a 1/2" main line where I used a bunch of T's and L's to smoothly run the main pipe under the soil, popping up a branch over the edge of each raised bed. I used 1/4" barbed coupling fittings (get the purple RainBird tool for these!) to connect the 1/4" drip tubing to the 1/2" main line branches. All connections went together really well, the pieces are consistent, I have not found any leaks, and best of all I was able to install on my own in under 2 hours, including burying the main line pipe! I am very satisfied, and would strongly recommend this product.

This is a great little tool. It cuts the tubing cleanly and easily makes the hole for the barbed fittings

Works well for what it is. A bit small and hard to hold onto it while using it. If it was on a key ring with something else (keys) it would be easier to hold.
