Impressive! Did the job just fine.
I was a bit weary based on the reviews that this wasn't sturdy enough to do the job. I bought anyway just to have on hand. I wasn't planning to scrape the popcorn ceiling off in our bathroom, but when attempting to repaint, the ceiling was pealing off so it had to go. This thing worked GREAT. With a little moisture (paint or water), it scraped the texture right off! I had no issues with bending/bowing, and I was able to attach a shopping bag to collect the debris for slightly easy clean up. I will say, it doesn't perfectly catch everything and, due to the shape, doesn't go edge to edge. I used a spackle blade to get the edges of the room. Other than that, I highly recommend!

A real mess and time saver!!
This tool worked excellent for me. I'd estimate at least 97 % of the mess falls right in the bag. I did a 16' x 16' room so far and I was squirting the water and removing the texture and working around furniture ( covered of course ) I think if you had a clear room and a helper wetting it this size room could have been done in well under 1/2 hour. I used plastic bags from the grocery store doubled up just in case and I changed bags 3 times which was no big deal with the supplied clips. This tool won't get closer than about an inch from the wall because of the frame for the bag. They need to have a smaller version of this tool with the frame flush with the scraper to get right to the wall. You may get a little bit missing the bag this way but it would help I think with even less mess. I did take a file and round the sharp corners before I started as per the advice here. I maybe got a couple extremely small diggers in the drywall but nothing very minor touch up with putty didn't fix. After reading all the negative reviews and people having trouble with it, I was tempted to make a video of me using it right out of the box for an honest review... I didn't bother but I wish I had. I was praising this tool right from the first swipe. That's the good news. The bad news is your still left with a powdery residue that needs to be sanded or at least I was. I used an electric orbital sander and only needed one light pass over the entire ceiling but what a dusty mess. I have a lot more to do thru out our house and won't attempt this again without a sanding/vacuum attachment. I sealed up the room including door cracks etc. put a fan in a window and that wasn't too bad but this was by far the worst part of the job. But as far as the popcorn texture and this tool , I highly recommend it for the price.

Save your money
I purchased this tool in order to help with scraping the ceilings of a 1600 sq ft home. So, approximately 1600 sq ft of ceilings. I didn't find this tool especially useful or helpful. While it might be nice in theory to reduce the amount of mess, I found it awkward to use and maneuver, and as the bag fills with ceiling texture it becomes more straining. I found it much easier to just place plastic tarps on the floor to catch the debris from the ceiling to catch and collect all of the ceiling texture. I then would roll up the tarp, with the ceiling texture inside it, and throw the whole lot away. For anyone taking on the task of scraping their ceilings, you don't need to spend a lot of money on fancy tools or supplies. Just buy a big roll of plastic sheeting, say 9ft x 400 ft from your local hardware store, mask off 2-4 ft of the walls at the top, and then lay enough sheeting to cover the floors and up to maybe 1-2ft of the bottom of the walls. Then, with your Harbor Freight or equivalent sprayer, spray a mist of tap water onto the ceiling evenly. Allow this to soak in for 10-15 minutes. Then, with your respirator, safety goggles or face shield, and painter's coveralls and hood, scrape the ceiling with a painter's knife. I found a 6" taping knife to be the easiest to use. If you got just the right amount of water on the ceiling, a 10" taping knife can be used to clear the ceiling rapidly. Lastly, be careful around the perimeter of the room as the drywall tape that hides the inside corners/seams is easily damaged. To prevent damage, run the taping knife along, parallel to the tape. Scraping motions towards the edge of the tape will cause it to tear and peel, leaving ragged edges that are hard to fix.

Did what I needed it to do.
The scraper worked well, though I highly recommended you still use drop cloths if youโre doing this around any carpet or furniture. I was able to remove almost all the disgusting popcorn texture. Thereโs just a few small, hard to reach places I still need to remove. Those places cannot be removed with this tool. The scraper and bag is a brilliant idea, and I was able to keep the mess to an acceptable level, which is another reason I recommend using drop cloths: Anything in the room will have quite a bit of dust. It would have so much more if not for the bag scraper combo in this tool. All in all, I like the scraper and am very glad I purchased it. It made the job so much easier. Some important tips: The scraper comes with the warning not to remove any asbestos that was done before 1980. Only remove once itโs been tested for asbestos. Make sure you have a ladder, protective goggles, protective clothing (or just clothes you donโt care about), a mask, work gloves, good ventilation, trash bags, and plenty of water. The scraper works best if you wet the popcorn texture before removing it. The bag will get heavy fairly quickly; be sure to empty it often.

This works, but I found it easier to use a plastic 6" scraper instead.
This works, but I found it easier to use a plastic 6" scraper instead. We bought a house that we didn't have to move into right away and decided that we wanted to paint as well as remove the popcorn. I bought this and used it and it works okay, but there's an easier way. When secure a bag to the scraper, the bag gets very heavy very quickly. This makes the task that much more laborious. Plus the bag needs emptied or replaced pretty quickly. I will say that the ability to attach this to a telescoping pole helped me use it over an open stairwell which would have been difficult otherwise. Two other drawbacks are that the sticker on the scraper eventually begins to collect debris and negatively impacts your ability to get a good scrape in each pass. Also, the rounded tops of the rivets can/will scrape the drywall and can cause indentations that may need to be fixed depending upon what your end goal may be. (we painted the ceiling with flat ceiling paint and I needed to make a couple small fixes). What I found to be the best is after you spray the popcorn with water use a 6" plastic scraper that you'd use for spackle instead. Scraping popcorn is a messy process. There's almost no way around that and the easiest way is to spend 30 minutes to lay plastic down on the floor in a good enough way that you can clean up after you've scraped. In my 2300 sq.ft. house, I used this in 1.5 bedrooms and an open stairwell before abandoning it for the plastic scraper. You could make an argument about which method was more labor intensive, but I think the quality of using the plastic scraper was far superior. my two cents.

It's east to use.
It was super easy using this. If you have any issues removing the popcorn ceiling you just need to wet it a little more. Or it has been painted over and you'll have to use something else. Not sure what

Did not work well for me.
I tried this tool with the pole and without the pole. I tried finding the right angle to scrape without making marks on the drywall and couldn't. The only way I could get smooth results was to push the tool with my right hand and pull the tool by the frame with my left. After I did half a hallway I had to go back and spackle several places so the ceiling would be smooth. If the ceiling isn't smooth it will be obvious even after being primed. Then I tried scraping with a 10 inch taping knife and catching the residue in a paint roller pan. The other half of the hallway did not require patching. It was a much better job than using the tool. What works for me is using a 4 ft. ladder, holding the roller pan in my left hand, and scraping with the taping knife. After the pan fills 2/3 and begins to get heavy I insert the pan into a plastic kitchen bag and let the material slide into the bag. Then put the bag in a large bucket. After an area of 3' x 5' ft. the bag will be full. So get another bag ready to fill. I believe a person can do the scraping a bit faster with the tool, but when you still have to do something with the filled bag it takes me about the same amount of time. Where I save time is I don't have to go back and patch with spackle. That takes more time than the scraping. When the scraping is done I go over the ceiling with a plastic putty knife to clean up the edges and hit the corners with a shop vac with a filter bag and then wipe the ceiling with a damp sponge. When dry use a good primer and you will have a nice smooth finish. This job is much less messy the way I do it, but it is still a mess. I put down a layer of red rosin paper on the floors and overlap so nearly all the scraped off material is caught in the roller pan and what material is left is rolled up and the paper is taken out side. The residue is high in calcium and I use it to spread over the lawn as fertilizer. I found that when scraping the moist popcorn there is no dust and I do it without using a mask. Therefore, I am disappointed that the tool didn't work well for me. It was worth a try.

Works great.

Works well, if you know how do to it.
Works really well at scraping the ceiling and collecting the stipple. Really cuts down on the mess. The trick is to soak the stipple enough. I was using a spray bottle with water to spray the ceiling, it really wasn't working. You need to use a larger backpack sprayer to really apply the water. It will create a mess, but this job is a messy job, you can only try and minimize the mess. With the ceiling soaked enough, it was an easy task with this scraper tool.

Dull Blade, doesn't work
The idea is fantastic but in reality it doesn't work. The knife is dull which makes it impossible to scrape off the unpainted wet popcorn texture. I ended up using a drywall knife from the dollar store and worked like a charm.
