Wireless at last. I hate wires.
If you are reading this, you already know Ooma is a great alternative to paying high prices for phone service. If you take their basic plan, your only monthly bill is just the taxes required by law, which in New York is about $3.50 per month. Compare that to nearly $80 per month for Verizon home service. As a bonus, if you pay for their "Premium" service, you get some extras, including the ability to block telemarketers who are on their community blacklist... and create your own blacklist. Basically what that means is whenever you get a call from somebody you don't want to hear from, you add them to your own blacklist and they never call again. When enough people block a caller, they go into the community blacklist, so anyone who turns on community blacklist is automatically filtered out. The result... a lot less calls while you ear dinner. As for this particular Wireless Adapter, I love it. I had the Ooma on my desk because it was close to my router, but now I can put it anywhere in my house. That's easily worth the extra $50. It also adds Bluetooth, which lets you pair it with your cell phone and pick up calls on your house handset. Since there are 5 cell phones in my house, I'm not using that feature, because it would confuse other family members who would end up answering my private line. For those with only one cell phone, it sounds like a nice way to let you keep your cell phone on the charger and answer from a regular phone.

Wow, so easy to setup!
I have used Ooma for many years now and love the service. Recently I switched to a wireless router, not even considering the effect it would have on my Ooma router. Holy cow, what do I do now? There was no connection for it. The only route open was converting the Ooma router to wireless. Wow, wouldn't you know it? Amazon carried the dongle that would take care of the problem. A quick connection to the internet and, wam bang, it is up! Running and the connection is even better than before.

Very poor signal quality makes this thing unusable.
As other reviewers have noted, this thing has zero wifi range. I have it within 10 feet of my router, with clear line of site, and the signal is terrible. I get dial tone, however, call quality is very random. I haven’t had any calls completely drop yet and the call sometimes sounds fine for a minute or two but it will eventually degrade to a point where it is impossible to carry on a conversation. I have had Ooma for years and I have loved their service. Super call quality and incredibly reliable service. It is amazing that a company that has mastered Internet phone service technology is not able to produce even a somewhat reliable wifi solution.I’ve seen a number of reviewers state that their wifi adapters fell apart while attempting to install them. I did not have that issue. A number of reviewers also noted how cumbersome the process was to get this thing installed. I can definitely concur with that! I’ve been in IT all my life however it took me over 30 mins to get this thing installed and working. I won’t bore you with the details of the install since, due to how terrible this thing is, it isn’t even worth your time to attempt the install to begin with.

Works perfectly! See note about installation
I wish I had bought my Ooma Telo with the wireless/BT adapter included, it would have cost less overall - but at the time, I had no plan to do anything but plug the Ooma wired into my modem... Fast forward a few months, and yeah, now it's a good idea. So I got this. It works perfectly for us. I don't notice any less quality than the direct wired method. Glad we did it!Note on installation - the only pain with the install was that the instructions failed to tell you something critical. Step 1 & 2 have you install the device on your Ooma and use an ethernet cable to connect your Ooma to your PC or laptop with an ethernet cable. Step 3 then tells you to go to a certain web address and then further instructions to set up the device. What they don't tell you is, that web address is not on the internet - it's the way your PC communicates to the Ooma, internally. You have to disconnect the PC or laptop from the internet and THEN go to that address, so that the Ooma and PC link up. After I tried it 40 ways from Sunday and Googled my head off, I finally gave up and got on chat with Ooma support and another device (or you will lose them when you disconnect the device you're trying to set up Ooma on) and they walked me through it... Once I got the devices talking, it was easy to set up and all was well. I deducted a star for the setup instruction aggravation, but the device does work perfectly. Hope that saves some aggravation! :)

forced upgrade
I was forced (by Ooma) to update my ooma telo device which was first generation. I used the original device (which cost about $250) for eight years and it was fully functional; but it had to be replaced because Ooma obsolesced the device as it would no longer be updated. The original device was far sturdier than the current model ($79 plus adapter) and it had both better buttons, better appearance, and better sound quality. The wireless adapter is a big plus and a great additional feature so it is worth the trade off. I think the adapter, when connected to ethernet, route splits traffic so I had to unplug it from my PC with a wireless card; and the software is a bit jiggly and cludgy . However, wireless is better than having to use a wire so on balance it is a good and innovative product.Ooma has saved me thousands of dollars in phone costs, the mobile software works great, the service even transcribes voicemail to email. I cannot speak highly enough of Ooma
