Review: Wonderful for homeschool curriculum - I needed some social studies material for homeschool, and this was perfect. I had first stumbled upon their geography version (which i love cause folks can’t read maps these days), and they moved on to this one when i finished that one. The lessons are very simple and short (we actually do a whole week every school day hence me getting through both geo and this one in a school year). The lessons themselves are well written, and very suitable to this day and age. I will be using the rest of their curriculum for the rest of our homeschool journey for both kids! Review: Perfect curriculum for homeschool kindergarten social studies! - This book is thicker than I expected (which isn't bad), and I love that it gives an introduction into several topics in one curriculum- history, civics, social studies, geography, and money (economics). These are all important topics, and each can be studied more thoroughly as individual subjects in later school years. I always read reviews of products before purchasing them, and I was quite baffled and appalled that another reviewer labeled this book as "patriotic indoctrination." I'm absolutely horrified at what that person may be teaching their poor child. This book simply shows how to recognize American symbols, something I believe is very important, and pays homage to the American flag and its military. One page asks "What do we put on graves on Memorial Day?" and shows a picture of a military cemetary. We SHOULD be teaching our children things like this, as the US Flag (and those who have fought under it) deserve a great amount of respect. Kudos to Kathy Flynn (author) for adding this to the book!
