For the price it is brilliant.
I am happy with the camera. It works well where I have it at the front of the house, although there is about a 4 second delay when you first load the app, but as this is also common with the more expensive brands I do not consider this to be a big problem. The night vision would be awful, but we are not far from the road and have streetlight nearby, so it works for us. I would suggest putting up a PIR light as well if you don't have lighting near your home. The picture in daylight is pretty good. The sound is acceptable. It has a 2 way mic, so I use it instead of an intercom or ring doorbell to communicate with those outside. If you were to mount it high up you probably would find the speaker not loud enough, but as I'm not actually using it as a security camera, I have mine mounted at door height, and even with a busy road nearby, I do not find the sound to be much of an issue, although it does pick up wind snd traffic. You can also activate a siren if you want someone to go away, but you can disable this if you want to.The camera is supplied with about a 2metre power lead, with a usb connection at the end, and a main plug is supplied. This could be a problem if you want to feed the power cable through a wall as a bigger hole would have to be made to accommodate the USB plug. However, we have fed ours between the front door and the frame, and this seems to work fine.It connected easily with my echo 5 show and the app (which I already use for plugs) is basic but functional.I think for the price, this was a good buy.

Middling price, Top features
I bought this so I could monitor our dog who lives in the utility room while I'm at work. I also have several of the tp-link smart sockets so made sense to buy more in the same eco system all using the kasa app.Camera itself gives a great image quality - it says 1080p and i've no reason to doubt that. Live feed connects very quickly when the app is opened. Below the live feed are thumbnails to the most recent recordings made - helpful shortcut. There's also a button to force start a recording (i've never used) or use the camera as an intercom (again I've never used). Below these there's a schedule button - I've got it set to 9-5 so I get notifications only during these hours when I'm out the house.I've included a screenshot of the settings menu and specifically the 'activity zones' page. I've got 3 zones set up over the doors. You essentially draw whatever area you want, so i was able to draw zones so dog doesn't trigger notifications, only opening of the doors. These zones matched with 9-5 timing means I can pinpoint what I want to receive notifications on.I've opened it to see the night vision a few times, it seems to work well but I'm home at nights for the most part so can't say i've used it extensively.I also only use basic subscription - i think holds recordings for 24 hours? Not even sure as don't look back that far. I use live feed and notifications.

Kc200 Could be very good, but mine wasn't
This kc200 was an addition to my other TPLink Kasa products. I already have a set of smart switches and two internal cameras, the fixed kc100, and a pan tilt kc110. This is a very useful and reliable family of products at a keen price. The controlling app on my Android phone has been reliable, the switches and cameras have been excellent. I have an expensive router, and the connections have been reliable. My kc100 internal cam looks out a window and has been good but once the street goes dark there is no vision at all. It has its own LEDs but you can't use them through glass. However, as soon as a car or person passes, my porch lights come on and it records the motion so it has been ok. However for some time now I've wanted a proper external camera, so to keep it in the same Kasa app, the kc200 made sense. So, lets not beat about the bush. The 1080 resolution camera is great in daylight. It set up quickly to my existing router and was sited about 10 feet away through solid walls. Advice is to keep the camera pointed down so bright sky doesn't make your foreground exposure dark. The motion detection the same as my other cameras and all 3 were happily working in the app. So far I can definitely recommend this camera. Now the downsides. I'd sited the camera having a gate post and wall in the foreground. At night when it switches to night vision it has its own LEDs. These were immediately too bright on those surfaces so I had to turn the camera a little so the LEDS are not reflecting off anything too close. All was ok for a bit but after a while in night vision the image seemed a very milky, grayish tone. I checked the lens, on off etc but it stayed that way. I didn't look right at all. It also looked a bit soft, out of focus. I never did get this to improve and I understand cameras and video stuff. The camera has 3 settings, day in colour, night in infra red mono, and an auto setting that sells from one to the other. By far the best setting at night in my street with the street lights on is in colour on the daylight setting. When they go off you would then want it to switch to infra red night vision. However it does not do this. Once the sun has set, and its street lights only, even though it could still record well in colour, it automatically switches to infra red. The point at which it changes needs to be much darker. Even if my security lights come on and light the driveway it doesn't switch back to colour and the better quality. So, at the times when the camera is likely to be most useful, it's not at its optimum. The camera picks up sound, but it is sensitive to a lot of wind noise. Now I'm sending this camera back as I've seen much better night vision than this on cheaper cameras. I think it is faulty as reviews on You Tube look much better than mine. If I choose to buy another I will update. The other drawbacks are installation. Firstly the bracket. It seems pretty good but essentially its just a plastic cradle that this ball shaped camera sits in. The camera can only show the image the right way, or upside down. Consequently the angle of the camera has to be right within the mount, and the protruding *fixed* cable means it can't swivel fully so needs to be positioned correctly. The bracket also just clips into place with a swivel. Consequently it could be just swiveled off too. It looks neat but would have been better with something locking it to the mount, a simple Allen bolt. Then the cable. About 12 ft I think. It doesn't give a lot of scope if you are routing it. It may need a usb extension. Finally it has a fixed full size usb plug. That's a big hole for a thin wire through your brickwork. I believe the Google Nest has this same issue? I really wanted the kc200 to work. The day time image was very good, the night time image on my sample was poor but i suspect there may be something faulty. I suspect some of the issues arent unique to this camera, Arlo, Eufy etc all have their negatives such as dodgy motion detection or short record times. It's a keen price but at the moment I feel a proper cctv may be the way to go.Edit added 23/09/2020. I bought a new KC200from another retailer. Fitted it and got crystal clear day vision and this time very clear night vision with infra red. My first KC200 was faulty for sure. This time I have changed how my exterior lights at home work too, keeping my porch lights on until the street lights are out. Then it all changes to infra red and its great. The KC200 quickly installed on the app too. All was well for two weeks. Then I found a random disconnection. It didn't reconnect itself. I had to perform a reset and reboot of the router. Got it going, then next day more random disconnection. Throughout all my other Kasa cameras, bulbs and switches maintained their connection. Come to the conclusion this KC200 has developed a Wi-Fi fault. I am doubtful of their quality build and control on this model.

TP Link KC120
BUILD QUALITY - Impressed. Solid quality feel to the unit, much better than expected. SETUP - (physical) Easy. Just plug in the power cable. SETUP (software) Kasa app download on iOS in straight forward. Register for account and follow on screen instructions to add and name your Kasa Cam. VIDEO QUALITY - (WiFi and 4G BT Mobile UK). Defaults at 720p but can increase to 1080p in Kasa App settings. Good quality. You can also zoom in via the app. If you zoom in significantly picture does loose a little of it'd HD definition, however, still more than good enough. Pleased with speed and ease of swapping between WiFi and 4G, it just works with no issues. SOUND Quality - picks up sound at quite a distance impressive Mic on this unit. Sound call out - if you have the sound turned up to max on your iPhone when you switch to video mode you get sound feedback (like a ringing alarm sound). If you turn sound on the iPhone off and back on it goes away. Also if you have sound turned down on the iPhone when you switch to video mode this doesn't happen. Not sure if this is an iPhone issue or a Kasa app issue. Not significant enough to down-star this review. MOTION DETECTION - works very well over short and long distances. NIGHT VISION - impressed was expecting a grainy blocky experience. This unit is clear and detailed HD quality. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic!
Bought this so I can keep an eye on my dog while I'm out and as a bit of security at home. Picture quality is great! You can also decrease the from 1080p down to 420p should you wish.I also have the TP-Link power line adaptors and smart bulbs so already had Kasa for these so made more sense to keep everything together. Regardless though, I probably would have bought this camera anyway. The field of view (130°) is perfect for our living room. The motion detection is great, you can turn off the notifications should you wish or decrease/increase the sensitivity. At the moment I have notifications off since my dog is bound to move about anyway but the app records clips on motion detection which can be reviewed whenever you want via the app. It also gives you the info for when motion was last detected. What really sold things for me was knowing that your recordings/clips are automatically stored on Kasa's cloud service for free for 2 days and can be upgraded to 30 days if you wish.My ONLY negative for this camera is that the 2 way sound quality is quite poor. It picks up sound on the recording very well (which is more important) but to speak into it is very very dull and quite. Having said that, if you have a Google Home/Hub/Mini then you can just as easily broadcast your voice over that instead.TP-Link - you just need to release a smart doorbell for me now lol

Problem with google app. If you change your router can not connected to new router.
So google app won’t allow you to change Wi-Fi router. Spoken to google they aren’t interested unless you are using there nest. Because it’s a third party camera they just cut you of. Contacted camera suppler still waiting on response as it is clear on the box the this camera works with google home. It did until I try and change my router. So to be clear it the app that’s the problem.

Great piece of kit with a couple of observations.
For the money, this camera is a great buy. Easy to install and up and running in 2 minutes and the first thing you notice is the high quality picture. App control is simple with various options and notification area adjustable. There are a couple of observations to be aware of such as the large USB interface type which creates a bigger hole than you may imagine, and also if you want to view this on a chromecast device it times out after 5 minutes, which means if you want to watch it constantly, you have to do this on the app. I have the app on my tablet as well as the phone in case I want to watch whats going on in the front of the house while I work from my office facing the back of the house. As far as recording history, I haven't purchased any packages but it goes back enough days, plus you can download anything of interest anyway. Would definitely recommend and will be buying a second unit soon.

Kara KC200 Review
Before buying this camera, make sure you read the technical specifications thoroughly. The camera failed for me on a few points:1. I wanted a camera to cover the south facing garden on my home. As it is a sun trap, temperatures can get up to 50 degC when the sun shines. The maximum temperature the KC200 is rated to is 43 degC and the technical specification sheet states the camera should not be exposed to temperatures above this limit. Therefore I didn’t want to risk the camera by running it outside its operating limit.2. The KC200 does not take an SD card despite other cameras in the range (such as the Tapo C200) having a slot for one. Therefore captured images are loaded to the Kara cloud where they can be viewed and downloaded. This service is free for a short time, but you will then be expected to pay a monthly subscription fee to access your video clips. These will only be available for 30 days after recording. This is not mentioned in the advertisement for the KC200, so be aware.3. Unlike the C200, the camera does not pan and tilt.4. The power lead is only 10 ft long, so unless you have a handy plug socket you will need to run an extension. The camera appears to work well and the operating instructions are clear. Video clips are good (although I did occasionally have some blockiness possibly due to my wi-fi) and the night vision worked well.If you can position the camera out of the sun and don’t mind paying a monthly subscription to view your video clips, the KC200 will probably work for you. I will be returning mine as I don’t want to expose it to the high temperatures seen in my back garden.

Does not fully support IFTTT
Like most TP-Link products this is well built, easy to use and reasonably priced. Unfortunately I had to return it as it does not fully support IFTTT integration which I use fairly extensively. You can arm the camera via IFTTT but you can’t disarm it. I run a number of different routines (other cameras on, lights, plugs on / off etc as I leave / arrive at home. I’ve set these up to run via IFTTT / Stringify via an Alexa command. As this camera can’t be disarmed I’d have to switch it off manually via my phone. First world problem I know but still irritating.Support was difficult. I had a live chat but the guy wasn’t fully up to speed on IFTTT. I posted a question on Amazon and a few days later I get a message from manufacturer saying that disarming the camera via IFTTT has not been developed due to security reasons. I know you can disarm most major smart security systems via IFTTT so not sure why this is a problem for TP-Link.You also can’t trigger an IFTTT applet when motion is detected you can only arm the camera so all in all the IFTTT integration is very weak. That said it is a nice camera. As another user has posted, seems a fairly obvious design flaw that the black camera comes with a white cable but, other than that rather minor point I can’t fault it. It’s solidly built and I quite like the software used to review video as it breaks it down by calendar day.It lacks some other features. You can’t hook it up to local storage via FTP and there’s no memory card slot so you have to use cloud storage. You get two days free though which would normally be enough I suppose. If you’re just looking for a simple camera for watching your pets or something this will be perfect. If you’re always trying to further smarten your smart home you’ll find it too limiting.

Great camera. Good price Large connector.
Very good camera, especially for the price. Great quality during the day, and not too bad at night. I have recommended it (and the whole Kasa system) to several friends and colleagues.I turned off automatic night mode to leave the camera in day mode, as with the street lighting there is enough light for the camera to work, and it captures more detail than with the IR filter & light on. I dropped a star because the cable is fitted with a full size USB A plug which requires a large hole. As the camera is powered by USB only, and that no data transfer is possible (there are only 2 wires in the cable), a different connector/charging system should be fitted. Another rrason for the dropped star is the brand dilution by TP-Link with their new Tapo brand... this is a terrible idea, as anyone investing in smart home solutions wants to have confidence in the long term support by the brand, and such a dilution of interests casts doubt on that.

Poorly Advertised Subscription Model!
Unfortunately TP Link have done a terrible job of making clear via the Amazon product description the subscription model and what the camera can and cannot do when out of subscription. As of 27.07.20 the only mention is:"Cloud Storage – Supports secure cloud storage to review and download your recordings from Kasa app (additional charges apply)"To clarify what this actually means - You'll be given a free subscription period of 2 years with 2 days of cloud storage, after which all your cameras will do is show live video unless you pay for one of their subscriptions (currently £2.99 per camera or £9.99 for 10).There are no external memory slots or options to record to other devices, therefore no way of using your cameras to store footage unless you pay a subscription for the lifetime of the product. What was frustrating was purchasing these back early 2020 where a 30 day recording subscription was included which has since been suddenly stripped down to just 2 days. TP Link have been clever here by simply stating that you'll have free cloud storage, so very deceiving in my opinion to not make clear what "free" actually includes. With this said, they could well strip this down again at any point in the 2 year period like they've done to existing owners so be warned.Whilst the upfront cost may be cheap, it may be worthwhile looking elsewhere in the long run if you're looking for a budget solution.3 stars as the camera itself is a very good piece of kit, easy to install and works well with Alexa.

KC200 (outdoor) - Disappointing sound and video quality.
I purchased this camera to monitor the front of my property, driveway and front door. I had high hopes of it working well due to owning a couple of Kasa smart plugs, which work faultlessly. Unfortunately this outdoor camera did not come up to the same expected standards. The best bit was that set up, operation and a firmware upgrade was extremely simple. It was then downhill from there I’m afraid!Footage was ok, but I have to say that I was not blown away by it in its highest 1080p setting. It was dull and grainy with limited sharpness. If you have Google Home then forget about any functionality with this camera. Ok the box says it works with Google Home but in reality it does not connect to my Chromecast at all. This meant that I could not view the live feed on my TV. It did try to connect but froze every time or gave a black screen. The biggest issue for me was sound quality or lack of it. It gave a constant interference sound on live view and recordings. I even moved the camera into a quiet room well away from any sources of interference and it still suffered. It was like a badly tuned radio and every 5 seconds or so it sounded like someone exhaling over the microphone slowly.I expected better to be honest as I have been extremely pleased with my Kasa smart plugs. This outdoor camera just didn’t live up to the same quality and I am disappointed to say that it is going back.On a side note I got it on a deal for £80 which shot back up to the RRP of £119 after I purchased it. I certainly would not spend the full RRP on this camera. A more reasonable figure given its weak points would be £60. Oh and I have not been influenced into providing a review by getting a discount or free stuff. This is my own unbiased review.

FULL SIZE USB PLUG
Using this product outdoors? 10ft cable means you will need an extension. The usb connector is a full sized USB 3 connector - which means drilling a Big hole in your wall. The way I got around it was to buy a USB Extension Cable with USB C, and then an adapter gender changer from USB3 to USB C, and hide it in a junction box.The microphone is super sensitive on these, especially when it's quiet. The movement sensor is also very sensitive when you set up zones. I have had to time mine so they aren't in use when not needed so they don't decimate my band width, noticed that as soon as I installed a second one I got buffering on Prime Music.Have solved the problem using a mesh router and scheduling the cameras and other smart devices that aren't needed during the day time, I can simply tell alexa to turn them on if I am going out to overide my timers.Picture is ok on 720p - if you have the bandwidth go for 1080p setting.Apart from the stupid large plug on the cables they are pretty good. Not recommended if you have poor wifi or broadband.

Bit hit & miss
Had this for about a week now, it’s ok but there’s a few niggling annoyances about it. As others have said the power lead is daft, this is an outdoor camera but the power lead has a usb connection meaning you have to drill a 14mm hole through your wall to get the USB end of the power lead indoors but then you’re left with a big 14mm hole and a tiny cable going through said hole. Setting the camera up to wifi etc is easy as is tinkering with the settings to set motion zones and sensitivity. Video recording is good with good sound but live feed is pretty poor, it jumps and lags meaning the sound keeps cutting in and out, this means that the ability to speak through the camera is pretty pointless as you can’t hear what the person at your door is saying as the sound cuts in and out and the picture jumps around. Notifications are poor too, the only notification sound is the pre set one on my iPhone which is a basic beep sound meaning that if I get notifications whilst sleeping I don’t hear them, obviously if someone is on my driveway at 3am I want alerting so I can disturb them/beat them up if necessary.

Good quality recording and picture, but either records too much or not enough
I have the camera covering my driveway and front door.First the good - the quality of the camera is good, the quality of recording is good and the camera was really easy to set up.Now the bad - on an overcast day, there are no issues, however on sunny days it is poor. Despite having changed the sensitivity to 8 and the minimum motion recording lasting to 2 seconds it more, today I have had about 30 motion notifications, 28 of which have been when the sun has come out from behind a cloud. The problem with having changed the settings to what they are, is that on a number of occasions, the camera hasn't recorded me leaving my house, which it should have done. I now wonder what else I have missed.
