SC1 / SC4 Schlage Compatible Keyway Re-Key Kit Bottom Pins #0 to #9 with 50 of Each pin and More SC Rekeying Set

Undertook a project to rekey all my exterior doors to one key. Can be very complicated as not all the handles and locks were the same model. Patience is required and paying attention to detail. All the parts are there, and work well once installed.

This kit was just what we needed to rekey our Schlage lock set. We were replacing all the locks in the house to something more secure and could only find similar kits that were keyed alike (both single-sided deadbolts). The double cylinder deadbolt sets needed to be rekeyed. After taking the locks apart (about 15 minutes worth of work at most), all of the cylinders were ready to be rekeyed. Since they were all brand new locks, the keys had the codes stamped on them so the pin gauge that came with the kit was not needed. We just figured out what pins came with the locks, what pins we needed for the rekey, and got started. I had my kids help so they can at least see how the insides of locks work. In about 5 minutes we were done rekeying. Another 15 minutes putting everything back together and about 30 minutes installing the locks on the doors and now we have more secure, keyed alike locks. Plus a ton of extra pins. This kit has just what you need for a great price. Other rekeying kits may have more stuff but will cost 2-3x more when all you really need most times is a selection of pin sizes, a plug follower, and a little bit of patience.

Bought this as a beginner kit for rekeying Schlege C keyway locks. works well for that! If you want to do master keying, you will need to get a different kit, or add master pins separately, but for "one key" operation this worked well. Only 2 issues that you should know. 1: The "removal tool" that is included is for Kwikset locks, no real use with the Schlege locks that I have found. 2: The top pins included are only one size. Schlege uses 3 different sizes of top pin and none of those are the same size as the ones in this kit. I can only assume that, since this seller also sells a Kwikset set, there is some crossover here. That being said, I still gave it 5 stars as, if you are rekeying an existing lockset, you likely can use the old top pins and springs anyway, and the tool, while not helpful for Schlege lock, isn't a hindrance either. Price is reasonable and a $3 Harbor freight storage box fits it nicely

1. As others have indicated, the enclosed tool was not adequate to remove the C-Clip, so this step was difficult, perhaps the most difficult part of the rekey. 2. Also, as others have indicated, the follower did not fit the key plug well. I ordered a separate Schlage follower, and this fit quite well. 3. Using the follower I pushed to key plug through the body. It probably would have been easier to instead slide the body over the plug and follower. 4. Top pins were supplied, but no springs. So a mishap may not have been easy to remedy. Fortunately I had no such mishap. 5. There is no need for tweezers. The pins were easy to handle. The rekeying was a success, so I gave this 4 stars.

Easier than expected. Just take your time. The plastic tool that slides into the cylinder to keep the top pins & springs in place could really sturdier and fit much better. Do Not Let Them Fall Out. Still, done in under 30 mins
