Great E string.
I use this string instead of the E that comes with my medium Prims. It has a less harsh sound and yet doesn't sound too muted like the Pirastro Gold E or Lisa E.

Broke in 1 month
It functioned as well as a normal E string until it broke in a month. It also kept getting very out of tune everyday I would tune it. Would not recommend if you want to have an E string for more than a month.

There is no reason to use any E string other than this
For three bucks, this E string is a sure thing. I see no reason to experiment with other more expensive E strings. There's a reason so many fancy-pants violinists use the Goldbrokat E string. Goldbrokats have power, they're hefty enough to lay into, but respond instantly when you play softly as well, and the tone is pleasant, no high steely overtones. I've never had a problem with whistling but that can vary from one instrument to another and one fiddler to another. They last about as long as any other E string (for me, about a month or two of heavy fiddling). They last much longer than those expensive wrapped non-whistling E strings. By "last," I mean a string remains responsive and still has good tone. When an E-string goes dead, you suddenly have to work a LOT harder to get sound out of it. That's time to change the string, and it's no problem at all when the replacement string costs less than three bucks, like these Goldbrokats.

Best E string out there
This is my favorite E string on the market. The sound is so much better than the other strings. It doesn't typical harshness that comes with a E string. It is mellower but without losing any volume or sound quality, it just eliminates the harsh edges that often come with a violin E String

Universal, beautiful-sounding string
I've tried out well over a dozen different brands and types of E-strings. This is the only one I constantly come back to. I've never once had it whistle at a weird time or sound poorly with a set of strings. It's truly universal and has a really nice, clear sound. If you want a more soloistic tone, get the heavier gauge. Depending on the chemistry of your hands, it will begin to show age a little more quickly, but at the price these strings go for (anywhere, really) you can definitely afford to keep a couple in your case. If you have issues finding a really nice-sounding and performing E-string, don't hesitate. Just try one out and I think you'll be sold.

Known for a Reason
This E is well-known for a good reason: given it's price, it is far superior to any E string anywhere near its price range. It matches well with Dominants and Tonicas, the two sets that I've tried it with. I would pay twice the price for a quality sounding E like this.

Most reliable E string I've ever had
I've been using this brand of E string for the past 20 years, since I was a kid. It's reliable, it matches Dominants really well, and it doesn't squeak or go false prematurely. I have no idea what amazon means by "sheerness" but I gave that 5 stars too because whatever.
