No plastic or cellophaneIt was good that Amazon overpacks the Baby Einstein box with one of their own as there is no tissue or foam used.Some reviewers indicate the drums come with batteries, both our purchases did not come with batteries which is consistent with the instructions. The cost of three quality AA batteries is acceptable considering the very reasonable price, high quality construction, thoughtful musical toy. We installed batteries in both of our purchases before giving them as gifts to quality conscious recipients. A small Philips screwdriver not included) is required to change the batteries and the battery cover appears secure (important). All screws were checked, no issues. The screw heads are recessed so no sharp edges and the toy sits flat on a floor or table.The instructions are simple, clear, and accurate. (unusual these days!). The magic touch feature is cool, no buttons; the child simply taps the wooden surface. For a simple design (two slider switches and the blue "Einstein" button), there are a lot of features, drum variations, and background tunes.
