Great Adventure Book
This book is full of adventure! My daughter is an 11yr old (5th grade at that time) African-American homeschooler, so this made the book even more relatable. She really enjoyed reading this book. Looking forward to what happens next!*The only con is some of the grammar/spelling mistakes. Which doesn't take away from the story.i.e. "The big cat cat enjoyed eating lasagna." - using context clues you'd read it as "The big fat cat enjoyed eating lasagna." or simply "The big cat enjoyed eating lasagna." (This isn't in the book, just using a random example.)

A Must Read!
Great story about compassion and integrity. The book was told through the voice of Nadia, one of the 4 children in the story. I recommend this book to young people and adults alike. A thriller to the end. The characters grew throughout the story. The kids were the voice of reason. I can’t wait for the next part of the Nadia series.

Fun, thought-provoking book for kids
My 6 year old son loved this book. There's a lot of ethical issues raised, especially about anthropology, that make for good discussions, and plenty of action to keep the kids interested, especially after the mid-point. It does start a little slow, but it picks up about halfway through the book. I loved the Nadia's character and the struggles that were going on within her head, the fact that there is a strong, female lead, and the addition of magic and surrealism. It lead to many interesting discussions. My son loved the dangerous situations the families kept finding themselves in.

A great adventure! Must Read!!!
From the first chapter of this book my 7 year old daughter and I were taken in by the authors use of descriptive visuals and unique characters on their journey as explorers. Every night my daughter begged me to read this story even prolonged reading through chapters because she was sad it was coming to an end! I highly recommend this book and we are excited and thankful to have read this tale and look forward to the sequel!!! Thank you Jessica McDougle for writing this amazing tale and for the resources provided in the Afterword. Your amazing!!! Peace and Blessings!!!

Story was interesting but spelling and grammar mistakes are terrible.
The story was interesting and my kids enjoyed it. It was pretty engaging and provided cultural awareness, and a good message about the effect that modern researchers can unintentionally have on groups of people, often without their consent. I don't think disrupting magic is as viable a reason as invading people's privacy and way of life...but the magic had an element of appeal for a younger child who may not be able to comprehend more serious concerns. The message was somewhat preachy and repetitive at times....but again, the kids did not seem to notice. The main issue I had with the book was that it had so many spelling and grammatical errors that the children were even able to pick out the mistakes and it detracted from the value of the book. It needs a good editing if this book is to be taken seriously.

Wry exciting book!
I’d recommend to ages 6 and above. It was scary at some points, but I love how it makes the reader feel and care for others. I enjoyed how it shows people trusting in their own unique gift. It was really a great read and you don’t want to put it down.

My daughter loved this book
She read the entire book non stop and is asking for the next installment by this author. She really liked it. She loved the author's imagination. Would recommend to 3, 4, 5th grade students.
