My dad has a concrete pond that someone recently gave him fish to put in it. We know nothing about fish, so I had to go down the fish pond rabbit hole to figure out how to control the algae being that the pond is in direct sun. I've tried multiple algaecides, barley straw bales, the ground up version of barley straw, a sun shade, a pool vacuum, copper pipe, but nothing worked. The algae seemed to keep getting worse until it was forming the string algae and you couldn't see anything more than a half inch below the surface. How the fish have survived, I'll never know. I found this and figured why not. The bulb came broken, but I followed the instructions to contact the seller instead of returning it to Amazon. They promptly sent another bulb. It's taken about 6 weeks and I can now see the bottom of the pond and the fish even at night. I think it will take a couple more weeks to get completely clear, but I quit using all the other algaecides and took out the barley straw, and it still keeps getting better. I clean out the filter every weekend. I am truly amazed how well this has worked and had I tried this first, would have saved me a ton of money and worry about killing the fish by using other products that never improved it at all. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with an algae problem.

I think this thing works great. I have koi in my fish tank I don't want to put them in a pond so I normally have to change my water once a week. This looks like I may not have to do that anymore. The first picture is before I get the picture is after 3 days

My very dirty 200-250 Gal pound with no visibility after a month was clean and cleared after running this UV sponge filter for about a week. Took the gamble even with some bad reviews, but it’s working well after two weeks! Easy to get going and fairly easy to clean. Before and after picture attached. I can finally see my Koi’s and goldfish again!

This filter is pretty dang amazing. I didn’t think it would work but I left it suctioned on the wall vertically, submersed in an 135 gallon turtle tank filled with about 80-100 gallons of water and the UV light on for 72 hours and the pea soup returned to broth. Am looking forward to seeing more clarity as the days go by. Came mostly assembled, just needed to plug in the air tube. Noise level is fine as it’s submersed. Can’t say much about the filtering quality without the UV as I’ve only used it with, but considering the methods my family has used prior to this filter, it seems to be working great. I also use it in conjunction with a Penn-Plax Cascade 1000 to cycle out the dead green :)

I have been struggling with an algae outbreak in my aquarium for 7 months. Talking to the owner of a local aquarium shop and he told me to get this UV Filter and my problem would be gone in 5 days. While skeptical... I have tried so many other things so I did it. HOLY SMOKES.... he wasn't lying. I think this is my first Amazon review but I just had to share because this filter has completely blown my mind. The photo progression is from day 1 - day 4 (haven't even made it to day 5 yet!!). I'm completely stunned as to how well this thing has worked. If you are struggling with Algae in your fresh or saltwater aquarium, do yourself a favor and just get this NOW!!! My aquarium is 55 gallon but I got the 75-300 gallon filter on the recommendation of the local shop owner who told me to get the "next size up". The flow is pretty high, but my clown fish don't mind and I actually think it's going to be perfect. I'm telling you, this thing has looked like pea soup for months, and now it's dang near crystal clear in just 4 days. Unbelievable. I don't care if it only last a few months (I hope that's not the case), it was well worth the money just to solve my problem. This won't clean up the algae on the rocks and glass, but it WILL make your water clear if that's your issue. BUY IT.
