LeakAlertor 6000 Toilet Leak Detector – Installs in Seconds, No Tools Required / Detects Leaks, Running Toilets, and Other Problems That Cause High Water Bills / Visual & Audible Alerts

This review is for the leakalerter 6000. We have had two of these for about three months and in that time we have been alerted at least 5 times when out flapper valve failed to seat properly. Each of those times could have costed us some heavy water bills had these devices not alerted us. Yes, we agree that the alarms could be louder, but we still heard them even with the bathroom door closed. They are simple to install. Just be sure to read and follow the directions, or else you might damage the devices. Everything they said in the instructions happened as they said It would. Don't try to take short cuts because you might not get the desired results if you don't do it correctly. It appears to be such a simple design, but it does some pretty cool functions. As far as the price, I feel that they have already paid for themselves by alerting me. I give these 5 stars.Update 2024:We have now had these for two years and they have notified us countless times that the flapper valve was not sealed properly. One of the two units has stopped working properly, but there is a good chance that one of the sensor wires hanging down from the unit may have been scratched by the inside of the tank. The manufactures of the product caution you about being careful when putting the sensors in the tank. As I said earlier in my first review, these units have paid for themselves in alerting us. Water here is very expensive. A leak can easily run up a large bill. So I am buying one more to replace the defective one and maybe a second just to have on hand should the other unit fail. This is great product. I just hope the quality of the product has continued with the new ones.

Had a small issue with the product and contacted LeakAlertor customer support - spoke with Eric and he explained how the unit works and what might be the issue, his diagnosis was correct and while I was sure there was no leak at the fill valve, the valve was actually leaking very very slowly. Eric shipped me a new Leak Alertor 6000 unit before I actually found/confirmed the fill valve leak just to be sure I would have no more issues.Technical support for this product is fantastic. Best after sales support I have ever had. The LeakAlertor 6000 will tell you if your commode is leaking water, save you getting water on the floor and save you getting a high water bill - and the after sales support for this product is fantastic.

In general this device is good... it is easy to set up, and does what it's supposed to. As another reviewer mentioned, the alarm is not very loud so if you're not in the same room you may not hear it. Also esthetically it's good but not great. Personally I think it looks okay, but many people are picky about the appearance of things in the bathroom and this unit would kind of stick out. Also I think it's a little pricey for what it does, but as I said at the beginning, the bottom line is it works!

This is a very slick gadget . Simply remove your toilet tank lid and hook it over thre edge of the tank . Then pull a little a tap to activate the battery [included ] . There are 3 LED lights , green, yellow, and red . The yellow light will tell you if the 2032 button battery needs replaced [ they last a very long time , and are easy to find ]. The green light blinks when you flush the toilet to tell you everything is OK, and shuts off once the toilet is filled up and the water shuts off . The red light blinks with a beeper To alert you when there is a problem in side the tank , and the water is just running. It stays on until the problem is fixed . That is where the potential for big savings comes in . If your toilet is leaking it could be using an immense amount of water . A friend of mine just had a water bill for over $3000 dollars for 6 months due to a leaking toilet !!! Sometimes a leaking toilet doesn’t really make much noise. The water dept. says a leaking toilet can waste about 8 gallons a minute . It works with low consumption toilets too . I have extensively researched the market for similar products and found no products that can come close effectiveness wise or price wise to this product . I reccomend getting some peace of mind with this product . It could be the best $ 30 you ever sent .

When push comes to shove this product leaves you disappointed. Never detected any leaks, though they happened multiple times throughout the many toilets I “protected”.

Had this for about two years it has warned me many times that the flapper was stuck in the water was running would definitely recommend

I have two toilets in my house, so I got two of these toilet leak detectors. I got them because so many times the toilet flap would stay open because the chain would get tangled up. So much water wasted when this happens. This device is pretty smart. It detects the water level in the tank of the toilet and remembers where the water level should be at all times. Installation was simple. Comes with clear instructions. I did test it by flushing the toilet and then lifting the toilet flap up so the water would not fill up in the tank. The alarm did go off, but it was not loud enough. The alarm should have been twice the loudness. When i closed the bathroom door i could not hear the alarm and when i opened the bathroom door slightly i could barely hear the alarm. Because of this we always make sure the bathroom doors are open.
