HKS 27-A Revolver Speedloader for S&W 27, 28, Ruger, .357 Redhawk (Packaging May Vary)

HKS makes very nice loaders and have been absolutely reliable and robust. I used them for years in my career and never had any performance issues with them. Yes , you can pay a lot more for others on the market but for the price point you can’t beat them. As with any loader , with practice you can achieve super fast reloads.

Bought this for my S&W highway patrolman .357 model 28-2. The speed loader is easy to load and has a mechanism that locks the bullets in place once all 6 rounds are in. It fits perfectly for the loading cylinder of my revolver. The reason I went for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the fact the speed loader is a tad bulky so I don’t think it actually saves a whole lot of time in reloading. Additionally I find it takes two hands to complete this process even if the revolver is say sitting on a bench. To unlock the mechanism and drop the ammo in the cylinder, you have to hold the cylinder in place to prevent it from spinning. Total transparency I did just receive this item minutes ago. With use I’m sure I will get better at using the speed loader and my rating may very well become 5 stars down the line. I have never used a speed loader before but did shop around quite a bit, found this to be the best priced option and it still appears to be well made and with care should last a long time.

I bought this for my .357 Smith and Wesson but it did not work. I have Smith Sports grips on the gun which do not have enough clearance for the speedloader to line up with the cylinder. Not the company's fault and I was able to return the product. It does seem to be well made.

I probably own 30 HKS speedloaders of various sizes for the several revolvers in the house, but these are the largest. Even the little .22 loaders are easy to load and use, but this guy is so simple due to its size. Even though these will be rarely used- unlike the 36As I carry daily- I will be buying more 27As.

This product is well made and works as advertised. My only complaint is that, because it only fits the S & W 27 and 28, and it's most likely made in smaller quantities, it's more expensive compared to the speedloaders that fit many S & W's as well as some Rugers. (it's about $5 more)Keep in mind that it may not work correctly if you have aftermarket grips. I have Hogue grips and I can't insert the loader all the way to the cylinder, but I can get it in enough to drop the bullets into the cylinder. This is no fault of the product, I'm sure it will work well with other grips.

I’ve had several of these over the years and they remain excellent to this day. The price is still reasonable amidst crazy inflation and is great value for money.

Works great with a little shake/wobble to drop cartridges into cylinders. Improves with a little practice. This particular model is more expensive than others by a factor of 3X, possibly because of the vintage of the intended revolver.
