I enjoyed working with this wire on my jazz bass - many more projects to come I hope! I would say this saved me a good amount of time. No wire stripping, no pre-tinning each wire. Just cut it, push it back, and solder it up. Yes, it helps to have good tools! :) The cloth does fray if you work it too much - you can see where my big dumb hands struggled with pushing back the cloth on the smaller pieces of wire. I’m pretty sure I could have fixed that by hitting it with a lighter for a very brief moment. It also looks great in my opinion, is resilient, and can hold a shape. Any way - good times - I highly recommend this wire, it’s the good stuff.

The insulation type, colors, and lengths of this wire are as advertised, and it is indeed 22 AWG. It \may\ be stranded wire, but it's hard to tell. It feels and acts like solid wire. Electrically that's not an issue, but mechanically solid wire is more fragile, tending to kink easily, and not infrequently break inside the insulation at the kinks, if it is moved around too much. After working with this wire for a while, it turns out that it actually IS stranded wire -- it really should say so on the package, but regardless, I upped if from 4 to 5 stars. It seems to be pretinned and solders easily, and the insulation is both durable and easy to manipulate. Great stuff for wiring guitar electronics.

Gavitt wire is THE wire to use if and when you need to do a little work on your guitar. The wire is pre-tinned and ready to go. Push back the cloth jacket once you've cut the length needed. No need to strip the jacket off. DO NOT USE that roll of wire you bought at the auto supply house up the street! Whether you do a little mod here and there or you do regular work on your guitars and your buddies' guitars, keep some of this wire handy. The Art of Tone can fix you up with the quantity for the job. The price is right when you have the satisfaction of doing something yourself. We need those guitar techs out there! Don't get me wrong, but when the itch comes over you to install those new pots and pickups and it's 10:30pm, just get your stuff out and get to work. No need to wait until the next day. Get this Gavitt wire and get busy.
