Versatile backpack with hip belt
Awesome backpack. Used it in Japan for 10 days. Hip belt is a big plus. Lots of pockets and they are deep. Holds a lot. It rained but items inside were dry. This is the small bag and I carried aboard plane; it fit in space above seat. Sturdy zippers. Shoulder pads nicely padded and easily adjustable. I wish the hip belt had a different system, it's not easy to tighten or loosen after it's on the back.

Best bag I've owned
Great quality bag(s). Just received my second of this same bag, I did get a different color so I can tell them apart. Here is the deal. I travel pretty much non stop. I've been to 63 countries in the last 3 years alone. When i fly I only do carry on, I never check in bags. It solves all lost luggage issues and waiting at baggage claim issues.3 years ago I bought my first Kaka Bag and was immediately impressed. Even though it says it's a 35 liter bag it holds more than my 45L Sierra bag did and it is much much more durable. Everything from the material to the zippers is better made and better designed. I can easily fir my laptop and 30 days clothes, first aid kit ect...everything for a month in one bag. I do travel with two bags as I often stay out and about up to 90 days so I can jam 30 days of clothing in each bag. I usually only have to do laundry once every two weeks.I'm happy and excited to say that this brands quality has not changed. My newly received bag is as sturdy as my 3 year old bag, which even though I stuff it to the gills and it's been to 63 countries it still looks like new. I love the padded shoulder straps and the fact that it has a waistbelt as most bags this size don't. The shoulder straps and waistbelt can be zipped into the back compartment when bag is stowed so you don't have straps hanging everywhere. There are sturdy grab handles on the top and bottom on the front of the bag. How sturdy you ask? One one of my trips I fell crossing a fast moving river. I had my Sierra pack on my back and my Kaka pack on my front. My buddy grabbed both handles on the Kaka bag and lifted me to my feet using them. I weigh about 220lbs. There is also a handle on one of the long sides allowing you carry it like a briefcase if desired. Also included is a adjustable detachable shoulder strap that has a multitude of clips attached to the bag for different ways to attach the shoulder strap. When doing long walks and hikes I'll wear one bag on the back and one on the front. When in airports of short walks I'll wear one on my back and use the shoulder strap on the other.if you haven't figured it out yet, I really like these bags. If you are on the fence just do it, you won't be sorry! Happy travels! I'm off to Cebu tomorrow with my new bag.

Really a great pack if you keep your expectations in check
I bought this for a 6-week trip to Italy, including a 1-week hike in the Dolomites hut-to-hut.I didn't want to spend a fortune on a fancy super lightweight backpack. This one fit the bill. It held up really well. Seams good and well sewn. Zippers strong. Rain protection with rain shell pretty good.Lots of pockets, etc. to store things. The downside of this pack is the weight (heavier than super strong and thin nylon $$$$) along with missing some useful features (like how to easily attach hiking poles to them, but you can but those things separately). This is a really durable, not-lightweight, all-purpose backpack. It was comfortable enough for 1 week of heavy-duty hiking. If I were a frequent backpacker, I would get something lighter weight and with more features. However, this is a great pack as it can do so many things very well.

Perfect for travel anywhere
I bought four of these for a recent safari trip where we would be on tiny planes with specific luggage size requirements (and where they had to be fully soft sided because they'd be stuffed in the plane's hold). I originally got duffel bags, but I ultimately decided we needed the benefit of backpack straps for carrying. These were perfect. Small enough to be legit carry-on baggage for the international flights but large enough—with the help of compression packing cubes—for the clothes we needed, no one had a single complaint. I will add the caveat that I kept one regular duffel for laundry; we could've repacked the dirty stuff, but we didn't really want to do that. On the way there, we carried on the bags due to a tight transfer in Amsterdam, but we checked all four in the way home. Super rugged and durable; I had no qualms they'd be fine in the baggage hold. The bag has several pockets: the main compartment (with a laptop sleeve we didn't use) and two secondary front pockets good for smaller items that you want easy access to. It has very strong adjustable shoulder straps and additional hip belt strap thing that helps better distribute the weight when wearing it as a backpack. Those straps zip away if you prefer to carry it by the handle or use the included duffel-like shoulder strap (we left those straps at home). There's also an elasticized waterproof cover to put over the bag (think shower cap) for walking in the rain, but we left those at home as well. There are also other features, like a strap and carabiner (maybe for shoes?).The only thing I didn't like was the included combo lock because it felt cheap and unreliable; after unsuccessfully trying to set a combo on one lock, I decided the risk of it jamming was greater than the benefit of a lock when carrying it as a backpack. I bought a little locking device thing separately instead. Some people may not like that the main compartment opens like a backpack instead of opening fully suitcase style, and I don't disagree. However, we had no real complaints with the backpack style, mostly because we had used those aforementioned packing cubes. Very easy to slide them in and out as necessary.I have no doubt we will use these packs for other travel in the future. One of my favorite purchases for the trip (which was amazing, by the way).
