Psycho has always looked a bit rough on home video, shot on cheap grainy film, with video releases struggling to process the grain - meaning its dnr’d to death or a chunky mess. The 4K remaster looks organic and filmic, grain is resolved beautifully - HDR is great, even in black and white - differences in shading and texture were apparent on costumes, sets and even Bate’s Motel bedspreads😂 The remastered sound mix is controversial - using ai software to take apart mono audio elements (including the score) and remixing in 7.1 Dolby Atmos - I loved it personally but respect that some find it revisionist - rain surrounds you - the shower curtain rings violently slash left to right - very immersive. The level of detail made me appreciate this wonderful film anew - still creepy 63 years later!

Quelle joie de me procurer, enfin, un support physique contenant la version intégrale de Psychose ! Tout y est : les bonus déjà présents sur l'édition du 50ème anniversaire et surtout les deux montages du film (version censurée disponible sur tous supports jusqu'à maintenant et non-censurée avec une différence de 16 secondes...). Les fans de ce film vont sans doute espérer une réédition française à l'unité (je ne tiens pas compte du steelbook 4K) pour se le procurer.

I bought this since no one I know had seen the original movie the tv series is based on. The extra part of the shower scene without the music is worth it. I was surprised that the score tones down the horror of it.

There is so much great, high pitch suspense in first part of the movie. The acting is top notch and the story is riveting. The end is disappointing but made sense. Anthony Perkins was superb, as was Janet Leigh.
