Still a bit slow - but does what it should do.
It works very well - but it is a bit slow. Not super slow - but for this price I rather like to have an instant read thermometer showing me the temperature... instantly. Also: changing it from Fahrenheit to Centigrade is awkward to say the least (in the battery area). Overall nice.

One Of The Best Cooking Thermometers For The Price.
I really love the colour(wasabi), it's super vibrant and looks great. Pros: -Great Colours. -Very Quick. -Very Accurate. -Easy Storage(magnet on the back). -Super Easy To Read. Cons: -Metal thermometer rod is a little stiff when folding it back and forth. -A small bit of oil on the joint part of the thermometer, not too bad but it smelled gross and looks a bit messy. Overall: Fantastic item for the price (one of the best thermometers for the cost), easy to use, super quick and accurate.

I operate on Fahrenheit
This would be a 5 star review - except . . . . the darn thing keeps switching to Celsius and not back to Fahrenheit and drives me crazy. My only recourse is to take the batter out to reset it. This is NOT easy to do. I love it beyond that.

Racecar performance, minivan price.
I was given the 'sportscar' of the digital kitchen thermometer world, and used it happily for years. It was not treated gently, and at various times was bounced off the floor, dunked into wine, left in the rain, and dropped into boiling candy syrup. After 5+ years of constant use, it finally gave up the ghost. Shopping for its replacement taught me that the gift I abused was pretty expensive. So, I purchased a $19 knockoff. (Two actually, due to an unfortunate kitchen drawer disaster that was not the thermometer's fault.) I quickly discovered that $19 will buy you an accurate thermometer, but that it also buys you a SLOW thermometer that isn't very sturdy. Holding a thermometer in a 500degF oven for 2 seconds is fine. Doing it for 20-30 seconds is very painful. Pulling the metal probe from the plastic body while cleaning it but still needing it for a Thanksgiving turkey is very frustrating. I still balked at spending over $100 to replace the temperature-Porsche; I bought this. tl;dr - This gives Thermapen-like performance for just over half the cost. I'm a nerd/ type A person, so I tested accuracy. I'm at sea level - the boiling water test was within 1 degF every time. The ice bath was within 1 degF every time. Temp acquisition times were always within a few seconds. It lights up for temping grilled items outside at night. The display flips when needed, like your cell phone. I'm a righty, so that doesn't matter for me as much, but it's nice if you need to temp a pork shoulder on both sides. It's probably fantastic if you're a lefty. The magnet within holds strongly. Slamming the fridge hard enough to dislodge it would probably cause much greater pickle juice/marmalade/broken glass problems within the fridge than any you'd have with a dropped thermometer outside the fridge. I don't really understand the hold/stabilization function. For my uses, it hasn't been needed. I don't see needing the max/min function either, but I can imagine some situation where it might be useful. Of course, only time will tell about long-term durability...but it *feels* sturdy in the hand.
