Plastic and the bottom section is cushy. Very durable. I have used daily for years. A very comfortable pen especially for guys with large hands.

Can this pen take g2 refills?

I think you have to get the correct refill that Pilot makes for this pen. - K

Hi. Will the bold gel G2 refills work with this pen also?

The description is confusing. The headline and photo say it's a gel pen, and I assume that's right, even though the rest of the description says ballpoint. The G2 refills will fit the gel pen. They won't fit the ballpoint. I used to use G2, but found that the EnerGel refills are the same size as the G2, but write better and the ink dries faster.

Will this fine cartridge barrel take a "bold" cartridge refill?

I always get bold. It makes it like it's writing itself.
