I just need 1-2 of these, but buying 12 costs about as much as buying just a few. How long do you think unopened Sharpies will last in the box?

How is it that people are saying years when on more than a few occasions I'd be at Staples and get a 10 or 12 pack and use it once or twice and then a month or so later it's dried out. Before anyone asks, yes I always put the cap on the marker as I'm OCD about those types of things. Weird thing is the unopened markers were also dried out. If I buy these now and 9 months later they are all dried out an I only used 1 marker will DYMO or Amazon refund my money? Sick of buying these when they always dry out.

Can you use this on clothes? I need my boy's name on his t-shirt.
