One of the great books to read before you leave Earth
Truly if there was one such list like they have for best Music Albums, Places, Movies etc., this book would be in the Top 10 best books on Spirituality. It is already the largest selling Spiritual Autobiography in the world and why not. I read this book first in 1997 and till I completely read "The Gospel of Ramakrishna" this was my No.1 spiritual book of all time. This Edition has one very important chapter that is missing in the same from Ananda that you can even read for free online. This book was read by several prominent people. Steve Jobs read this book once every year. This book was given as a parting gift to all who attended his funeral ceremony. George Harrison of The Beatles promoted this book and the four prominent Gurus beginning with Babaji, Lahiri Mahasaya, Swami Yuktheshwar and Paramahansa Yogananda, the author are pictured on the cover of the Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album by The Beatles. Gene Rodenberry of Stratrek fame also used the word "Engergize" from the energizing exercises of the author that forms a core part of the steps towards initiation into Kriya Yoga. This book also answers the most common questions regarding "life after death" and the purpose of life. If you like miracles and wonderful things that science is incapable of explaining then this is the book to read. Even atheists will love this book in the way it connects life in living creatures and inanimate objects. The glory of India lies in Her Spiritual wealth and till about the 15'th century even materially India was the richest country in the world but it is Her spiritual wealth that makes India truly the cradle of human civilization. When all other civilizations of the ancient world (Egyptian, Babylonian, Greek, Persian) all vanished it was the Vedic culture that persisted till this very day. Christianity and Islam are touched upon in this book with more writings on the former. The link with Jesus is also a beautiful thing in this book, one that re-instated my faith in Jesus. As the title says, don't be without reading this incredible book. For many it has been life-changing.

Great Quality, Nice Reading Experience
Very good quality book, both in terms of knowledge and paper quality. Product came with lamination and high quality paper prints. For the price, the quality far exceeds the expectations! As for the reading experience, no spoilers, but worth it!

What am I actuall reading
Condition of the book is great / good. The actual book contents is just pompous - over inflated infatuation of "sucking up" to the West / Americas - as if Indian rituals need to be acknoweldged or approved by the West. Just sounds like over inflated egos of being in America, and the style of writing / narrative is overly pompous, with little to no actual self refelction of how does one survive in a capatilistic world. I can meditate as I as want but its still not going to protect me from the elements of homelessness. Steve Jobs really thought that this was going to heal him. Maybe it helped him to let go but the fact he decided against medical intervention because of this book makes me think Steve Jobs was greatly mislead. This book only serves those who are already financially well off and want to pass time by entertaining new thoughts without exercising responsibilities and reflection of what is actually happening in the daily maya.

Life transforming
This is one of the best books I have ever read... in my entire life. It has given me new (and more sensical) explanations about religion and philosophy in general. This is true to such an extent in fact, that common concepts with the Bible and life in general--that which was once vague or easily misunderstood--became crystal clear and make SOOOOO much more sense the way he presents the "truth" of existence. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone, especially those of you who are Agnostic or Atheist, as the explanations he gives clear up so many of the subjects that turn people away from religion and God in the first place (i.e. he completely puts to rest the "why is God mean" argument, but clearly understanding why children and the innocent get cancer and have other terrible things happen to them). > 1. He gives an alternate explanation and meaning behind the story of Adam and Eve that makes SO SO SO much more sense than what most people are taught and believe. > 2. He gives an alternate explanation and meaning behind Hell, Satan, and the structure of creation in general that make SO SO SO much more sense than what the masses are generally taught. Again, this makes so much more sense, and answers the questions (dismisses them really) about "how could God be so mean?". > 3. He explains how to really get to know God: Not through "faith", but through scientific methods that REALLY provide clear and true answers. This book isn't one to "believe", but rather one to practice, to find real answers for yourself (I love how throughout the whole book he upholds and supports science. Religion isn't a "lifestyle" or a "faith" based thing in his mind. It is scientific, with measurable, ordered, and meaningful values to be found through God and religion). > 4. Some of the above points are just larger highlights on the the things he covers. He explains so much about the Divine, in such a clear and concise way, that God and religion in general now make SENSE (to my limited human understanding) where they once made no sense, and only instilled anger and frustration. I highly highly highly recommend everyone--of every race, creed, and affiliation--read this book. You will get something out of it, likely a more than you ever imagined.

Yogana voice CD made me happy as well.
Yogananda tells what’s ‘self realization’ with comical writing. hope it’ll reach the world today.
