Why I love my kobo
In love with the kobo. It’s what I expected and more. Zero technical issues and I’d say it’s worth the money considering it has a coloured screen - which is very enjoyable. I personally had no issues with the “graininess” that people talk about, possibly because it’s my first e-reader and I had nothing to compare it to, apart from my phone, but I didn’t notice anything. It’s very easy to use and the power button is placed very conveniently (as opposed to some e-readers lol). The battery life is GREAT and the brightness is also amazing - outside in the sun I could keep it at 0% and inside I usually put it at about 15%. You can adjust the brightness by swiping up and down on the left of the screen which is very handy and doesn’t interrupt reading time. The kobo itself is lightweight and small so it’s very portable - I recommend the kobo magnetic case as it can put the kobo to sleep if you close the case - very handy. Overall I love it and there are no ads on the powered off screen - either blank or it can show your book cover which is cute. 100% recommend over any other e-reader!!!!

Perfect for on-the-go reading.
Lovely size, nice and portable, light to hold. Love that you can highlight in different colours. Screen quality is great, you can choose your preferred font and size too. It's worth noting that it come with OpenDyslexia font installed which I think is brilliant for those with dyslexia or visual stress that can affect ones ability to read. Interface is user friendly, easy to add books, and set up how you want to turn the pages (a variety of options are available). Quite expensive but it does feel like a quality reader.

Good for free digital libraries.
Bought this to read books I borrow from local digital library “overdrive” compatible. Works a treat and syncs my reading to The Story Graph. Display is a tad softer than my older kindle paperwhite but not in a bad way. Colour is there and welcome on books that have it. Display colour and brightness changes in the night so easy on the eyes. Responsive to touch. Good battery life. Very happy with it.

Everything they say it is and more
Been waiting for colour eink readers to come down in price. This was a birthday present. I read a lot of art books and love having colour covers and being able to see colour pictures in my epubs. Thought the backlight might be a problem, but if you are reading in bed with a light on you can't see it. Also, really like blue light changing to orange a night, and the fact you can change the page background to black if you are dyslexic like me. If we are reading paperbacks, we don't expect full page pictures in shiny colour - for HD pictures, read the book on the Kobo app on a tablet or a computer! Could do with Dropbox integration, but that is provided on the more expensive bigger Kobos, which I find hard to hold. All in all am happy with this and will use my older Kindle as backup.

Rather Good
First off make sure you buy from Amazon direct to pay the correct price of 139.99 not the inflated price other sellers are offering. Well the colour works rather well though of course the majority of books will still have the same bw text. I actually like the 6 inch size as I find it is easier to hold in my hands rather than the bigger screens and as you can adjust font size then readability is not an issue. What really bugs me about the Kindle (though everything else works fine) is that when you want to expand the Wikipedia info you have to tap the screen. On every Kindle I have had this never works without frustration. Whereas on the Kobo it's just a light press and away you go. I also like the fact that it isn't restricted to the Amazon propriety Mobi or AZW but uses Epub or Kepub and is much better for PDF files than the Kindle. You can also borrow direct from your library with Overdrive which is pretty nifty. Listen Kindles are fine but its nice to have alternatives and Kobo should be congratulated on bringing out a colour model that works really well.

It's a great e-reader, if you keep in mind that the colour isn't its primary function
As the title says really: It's a great little e-reader with a colour function. The thing to keep in mind though is that the colour can only really be called 'a nice touch' To me, it's the same shade of colour and texture I used to see on cheap news print (kind of a washed out water colour on cheap paper) and as such has a certain charm left over from paper books. For visually pleasing book colours, illustrative diagrams, this is a great improvement. If however you're after for something to match a decent quality tablet/phone and those rich, vibrant colours, this is NOT for you, at least not if colour is important part. I was looking to buy a new e-reader and the colour version was out at the same time by coincidence so I'm really happy with this. However, I wouldn't recommend you go out and replace a reader you're already happy with solely on the basis of colour covers. In itself, I don't personally think it's a feature worth buying a whole device for. But, if you have the money and want a new toy... You could certainly do worse.

Y me encanta.

Recommended E-Reader
I purchased my first Kobo E-Reader in 2019 and pretty much got 5 solid years use of almost daily use and LOTS of travel to and from work (trains) and holidays before problems became worse and worse ( kept freezing, slow to load) so it was time for a new one in 2025 What I liked? - Kobo doesn’t lock you into one particular ecosystem and gives you the flexibility to add EPUB , MOBI and PDF files to the device - USB C charger port is a game changer for me as my Apple devices are all USBC and I can easily use existing charging cables - The new model has a robust LARGE On Off button unlike the old model with it’s tiny button on the bottom which eventually becomes a challenge to use - Colour I guess is good but for me it’s not a big deal I simply want an ereader to use on the go Negatives? - I think the price paid for a simple Ereader is a little over the odds for what you actually get but for me personally it’s worth every cent Peppertree Verdict? ✅ Winner!! The only EReader you’ll ever need Easy 5 Stars

Clara or Kindle for Singapore?
My second purchase for my niece. Strongly recommend getting this if you are in Singapore using NLB resources. The fact that this device is connects to Singapore's NLB ebooks already indicates the necessity to have this. Color is real and warm. It really elevates the reading experience. I like a stand alone device as it keeps kids honest about what they are doing on the ipad. Also, ipad's color may not gentle on the eye. Contrast to Kindle... Sometimes i tend to accidently press the button at the bottom and sleeps it. Clara's button is at the back where your finger will normally rest holding the device. and that helps....
