They DO hunt other birds, but usually from the ground. **Q: can cardinels perch on the short pegs?** A: This feeder is mostly for small birds. Mine attracts American goldfinch, black capped chickadees and red breasted nuthatch's. Some sparrows try to engage but have difficulty with the perch size and holes which I don't mind. I use 3-D Nut N' Berry bird food from Walmart which the small birds love. Feeder stays very busy year around. Tip: Secure the top with rubber bands so the so squirrels can't breach the top. Good Luck. Enjoy. Great feeder. **Q: what is the tube made of ( glass or plastic?** A: I believe it is a quality plastic **Q: is this feeder pole mountable?** A: No, and the squirrels can easily get to it if it’s hanging from a shepherds pole ## Frequently Bought Together - Metal Hanging Bird Feeder Tube, 4-Port, 2-Pack Hanging Bird Feeders for Outdoors, Heavy Duty Chew-Proof and Rust-Proof Metal, 15 Inches - Wagner's 53002 Farmer's Delight Wild Bird Food with Cherry Flavor, 10-Pound Bag - Kaytee Wild Bird Basic Seed, 10 lb --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sk/products/77813819-gray-bunny-squirrel-proof-bird-feeders-for-outdoors-6-port](https://www.desertcart.sk/products/77813819-gray-bunny-squirrel-proof-bird-feeders-for-outdoors-6-port) --- *Product available on Desertcart Slovakia* *Store origin: SK* *Last updated: 2026-10-17*
