From the novel back-to-front read, to the Japanese “sound effects” (there is a glossary for what the sounds mean, if you are that interested!), to the pages of commentary from those who were involved with the television production, this is a necessary companion for anyone wanting to get more out of the Evangelion world. There is a lot that is familiar, but a lot of great additional character development and plots that are not part of the original anime series. I have blasted through both the first and second omnibus books, but am trying to pace my way through because I want to savor it. Most of the content is in black-and-white with some limited full-color pages at book transitions. The books itself has a high-quality cover that will put up with multiple-reads, as I am sure I will put it through!
