Can this be permanently attached inside a boat engine bay to change 2 x 12v 100amp battery’s?

We would recommend the GEN5X2 or GENPRO10X2 for marine applications as those models are waterproof while the GENIUS2X2 is not.

I have 2x 120ah batteries in my motorhome. the genius 2x2 is only rated to 40ah. will it be suitable to maintain them? time is not an issue.

The charger will be fine as a trickle charger or conditioner. The charger is 2A per battery which means that as the only charging method it will only work during periods where the batteries are not under any load or the battery will discharge at a higher rate than you are charging it at. The battery is capable of discharging 120ah, if your 40ah rating is correct it will take 4 times longer to charge than it would to discharge a maximum load of 120 amps per hour. I have this charger on my Motorhome on the same size batteries used as a trickle charge option and it works fine.

Does the Genius2x2 have the desulfator option? The manual doesn’t mention anything about it.

The GENIUS2X2 desulfates during both the 12V and 6V charging modes. It is one of the first few steps in the charging process, if the charger detects sulfation in the battery it will automatically start desulfating during the charge, there is nothing that you need to do to activate it. The 12V Repair Mode that the larger models (GENIUS5, GENIUS10, etc.) have is an additional mode dedicated to recovering heavily sulfated, stratified, old, damaged, and/or idle 12V batteries.
