OG version > S Definitive Edition
As other reviewers has stated, this is the only way on the entire internet to purchase the steam code for the original version of Dragon Quest XI since steam has delisted this version from their digital storefront. The original version has superior graphics and has more mods while the S Definitive Edition has worse graphics but more content. As of the time of writing this review, there are only 2 copies left! If you want the OG version, buy it now!!!

The only way to get a legit PC version of the game
There is no other way to get this on PC, it was pulled from Steam and pretty much all places online that sell Steam keys have them either sold out or for over $100, with most being on the sold out side. I had no idea that it was still sold here on Amazon, maybe Square-Enix is trying to unload their remaining keys or maybe they want it sold exclusively here to keep the price so high, no idea and I don't care so I bought it today from here. It was awesome to see this game getting added to my account. :) Still think it's really odd that it was removed from Steam, just because the "S" version was added to Steam doesn't mean they can't sell both, when they added the remaster of Final Fantasy VIII, they still sold the standard version...

Phenomenal Dragon Quest Game
I really won't get too into any particular detail of the story, because it's very hard to do without spoilers. If you want the short version, know that I have played every Dragon Quest (or Dragon Warrior) game from 1-8 (and replayed them in several remakes). Make no mistake, I can say confidently that this is probably the best Dragon Quest EVER (and I haven't even finished the game yet). The visuals are absolutely STUNNING. No, we're not pushing "next-level graphics", but the art style strikes the perfect balance between a visually pleasing/realistic and warm, welcoming cartoon-y style that we've grown accustomed to playing the series. The world/level design is well thought out, and attention to detail is fantastic. Familiar monsters from previous games show new life and everything down to the animations and effects seems to be just right. The game instills a true sense of "connection" with the world with its fantastic visual display. The gameplay feels remarkably familiar to previous entries, but yet manages to show some refinement as well as new wrinkles. The combat system is still the same, but now with the new "Pep" mechanic, as well as the ability to "hot-swap" your combat party. While the difficulty never really feels too challenging, you are rewarded for "playing smart" instead of "hard". Exploring the world and doing side quests beyond the "main story" will yield small rewards, but still feel oddly fulfilling. As with any good JRPG, the storyline is well-written and executed. Though DQ11 suffers from a large array of cliches, and the mediocre (but not bad) voice acting can sometimes be a distraction, the story and characters are still compelling, and provide a ton of gripping moments. If there is truly one knock on the game so far, it's the music. It isn't so much that the music is BAD... The soundtrack is a healthy combination of old tunes, some "re-imagined" tracks that will sound very familiar, and some new ones as well. However, the problem is that the music isn't "scored" (played by actual instruments). In fact, after reading up on it, the music is actually in MIDI (computer synthesized) format. The music is still good, but it sounds cheap, and is a bit of a letdown in an area that could have really made traversing the (very visually stunning) world shine even more brightly.Overall, if you're looking for a JRPG in the truest sense, or if you're a big fan of the series looking to continue or return from an absence, definitely get this game.If you're new to the whole thing, expect to be pleasantly surprised by one of the better (English) releases this year in the genre that is complete with a riveting story and compelling characters, beautiful visuals, intuitive gameplay, and a rewarding singleplayer experience that's rich in replayability. All of that is wrapped up perfectly in a timeless formula that has the series still going strong after 30+ years while still feeling reasonably fresh.

Dragon Quest XI is perfect for newcomers and veterans alike
I've clocked 23 hours so far into the PC version of this game and the port is excellent. I was skeptical at first, square enix is very hit or miss with their ports but the PC version boosts all the features you need to fine tune your experience to get the most out of this beautiful game. The combat in the game is perfect, exactly what you'd want out of a JRPG. The ability to switch party members mid battle is an amazing feature and you never feel like you're missing out on using your hard earned abilities or losing the chance to use your awesome pep powers (this game's ultimate abilities. For those of you who are similar to DQ:IX, it is a more refined version of the coup de grace system) where you team up with your party to execute powerful group attacks, buffs, heals, and plenty of other interesting abilities that're unlocked as you level up.This game was well worth the wait and lived up to every expectation I had for it and then some. Cor Blimey!

For removed game collectors
Be aware that you get a Steam key for the old version of the game which was removed from Steam. In my case, that's exactly what I was looking for, Amazon is the only place where you can still get a key for it. If you are looking for the newer version with more content but slightly worse graphics, which is currently being sold on Steam, look for the XI S Definitive Edition for $39.99.

Best game I have played in a long time.
I am so glad the game came out for PC as I play all my games on my computer. The artwork in this game is fabulous! I played Dragon Quest 8 back in the day on the Play Station and enjoyed it tremendously but this is even better. There are 3 acts to the game so the game is lengthy and you get more than your money's worth. The game is fun to play and explore all the different locations and I also am having fun with the quests. I love the turn based battle system. I am about 1/2 done with the game and am not looking forward to it ending as I am havine a blast.

LOVE IT! 10 stars!
i fell in love with this games characters, plots, character arcs, the forge, voice acting...well everything if im being honest <3 and i honestly dont mind at all the music quality either...theres just one thing i didnt like...sylvando...im very much ok with gay/lesbian characters but he a complete cringe fest and im a straight guy who's went to a gay bar before, and sylvando is just waaay over the top! but despite that, i would 100% recommend this to everyone easily as the very best DQ yet

Classic JRPG
Classic JPRG experience, a must have for fans! A bit annoyed (only a bit) of missing Japanese voices. :(
