JESLED T8 4FT LED Light Bulbs, 24W 3200LM 5000K Frosted Type A+B, 4 Pack

Our laundry room came equipped with a pair of standard 2-tube fluorescent tube fixtures. Over the years, I’ve tried different tube types with different color compositions, but the room remained a dungeon. Then last month a ballast failed on one of the fixtures. OK, time to try something new. I bought a 4 pack of these high output LED tubes and removed the ballasts from the fixtures. The modification was so easy, even I could do it. The results were stunning. Tube delivery took about a week and actually came a day earlier than promised. The 4 tubes came in a very strong box with fortified ends to protect tubes from damage. Amazon placed this rugged box in one of their boxes for delivery. The Amazon box was more decoration than protection since no packing material was added to keep the tube container from rattling around the Amazon box. Never the less, the tubes arrived with no damage. I retrofitted the fixtures in place. The procedure was quite simple once I got those pesky lens off the fixtures. After removing the old tubes, a simple squeeze on the fixture wire cover exposed the ballast and tombstone wiring. A quick voltmeter check verified that the power was off. Then it was simple matter of cutting the ballast wires and removing the one Philips head screw that holds the ballast in place. The dual end power feed: The existing 2 yellow wires from the shunted end tombstones were long enough to reach the white neutral wire location. The 3 wires were twisted together and a new wire nut was securely installed. The 2 tombstones on the other side of the fixture each contained 2 wires (blue wires from one, red wires from the other.). All 4 of these tombstone wires were then twisted together with the black “line” voltage wire that originally fed the ballast. Note that this 5 wire connection requires a larger size wire nut. The green ground wire remained as-is on the fixture grounding screw. That’s it. Then it was a simple matter of pushing the fixture wire cover back in place and inserting the tubes. It took maybe 20 minutes to retrofit the first fixture because I was deliberate with each step, verifying wire lengths, selecting correct wire nut sizes, etc. The second fixture took less than 15 minutes. Then came the moment of truth; let’s power up these bad boys. Yikes, the room is very bright. Short of premature tube failure, I can’t imagine a better LED conversion than using these super bright tubes.

I ordered the 4 pack of 4 foot led 5000k bulbs. They arrived in a sturdy square box with hard ends. All 4 bulbs were intact. The bulbs had plastic guards on the twin pins on each end. Overall, sturdy packaging. The bulbs/tubes are light weight and not overly sturdy, but mine are behind a cover, so no issue. The installation and rewiring instructions were a little hard to read as the print was very light, like from a printer/copier about out of ink. However, the instructions were legible and although brief, they were easy to follow for anyone with modest electrical experience. The install took only a few minutes, consisting of cutting the wires to the ballast, removing same, and attaching the wires together per the diagram. These are dual end powered bulbs which were very easy to rewire for. Snip, snip, junk ballast, and reconnect the cut wires with wire nuts. I took the first fixture down from my garage ceiling and did the rewire on the bench. The second one I did right on the ceiling, which is the method I would recommend. Much less trouble and much faster. The first one took an hour, second one 15 minutes start to finish including washing the fixture cover. Overall I am happy with the new led tubes. They are much brighter than the old florescent and the 5000k light is a much better work light. This was most apparent after the first of two fixtures in my garage was converted. The difference in light output and color was very dramatic. I recommend this product and the price is right is you need 4 bulbs/tubes. Good value and easy conversion if you have even modest electrical ability.

Otherwise, this is a great product. I put them in years ago and they're still going strong. They were so much better than the fluorescents they replaced that I ended up having to replace every single fluorescent in the building (over 500 tubes!). So why my caveat for a five star review? These are ballast bypass LEDs. This means you will have to bypass the ballast in your fluorescent fixture. That means rewiring the whole thing. It's really not that difficult, but if you have no experience it can be intimidating. If you don't feel confident switching off a breaker, cutting about six wires and wiring them up in a new order, then don't buy these bulbs. Don't get me wrong, it's easy and anyone should be able to do it with a pair of wire strippers and a few wire nuts, but several people looked at me like I was performing brain surgery. If this is beyond your skillset and tools, you need to buy BALLAST COMPATIBLE tubes. Those will pop right in and just work. Now, those tubes will be much more expensive. They'll also take about the same amount of electricity to run because you haven't eliminated the ballast, which eats up electricity like Cookie Monster eats cookies. These tubes will cost approximately 80% less to run over their life, so even if this is daunting maybe consider getting a handy friend to help you with the rewiring. Also, please note that these tubes are 5000k. They are very, very white. You may think you want this. Maybe you do. It pairs very well with day time light. If you're using these lights during the day or you want very bright and clean light to do detail work, these are great. If you want a nice cozy spot that feels warm and inviting you need to try at most 4000k and probably 3000k-2500k will likely be your sweet spot. These can feel very austere late at night even though I still enjoy them for office work.

Purchased these LED bulbs to replace older ones in hopes to save energy. Shipped fast and great price. Packaged with plenty of layers to prevent breaking. Easy to install and just the right brightness. Would definitely purchase again. Do appear thinner than the older ones I replaced and worried they wouldn’t workout but not a problem!

UPDATE: I thought I was ordering clear tubes and received frosted white tubes. My fault, I should have paid more attention. The frosted tubes are actually better for my application in the shop. The light does not cause any harsh shadows. I have clear tubes in my garage and the light level is slightly brighter, but the individual LEDs in the tube tend to "dazzle" or cause glare blooming when you look at them directly. Because each LED is a point source of light, you get some shadowing with the clear tubes. The frosted tubes eliminate this shadowing and give you a much more even light for working. I bought 8 of these 4' tubes to retrofit my 20' x 20' shop. The fixture conversion was easy, remove the old ballast, wire one end of the tube to line and wire the other end of the tube to neutral. You might need a few extra wirenuts and will take you about 10 minutes working up on a 10' tall ladder. These tubes are much more expensive than standard florescent tubes, but if they last 5 years, they will be worth the money. CAUTION: After reading some of the previous reviews it was apparent some people were not completely knowledgable when dealing with 120 volt AC line voltage. If you are not comfortable working with 120 volt AC, consult a licensed electrician before ordering. You can be exposed to lethal voltages when removing the ballast and installing the LED tubes. Incorrect wiring could also cause a fire. EDIT: If you install these LED tube into the fixture with the power on, it is very important the pins do no contact you or any grounded surface. When the one end of the tube is connected to the hot wire of the 120 volt AC feed, the other end is LIVE with 120 volt AC. The AC either wants to flow to ground (big spark and bang) or through you (the outcome will not be good)! This will be the same as holding onto a butter knife and sticking it into an AC socket, you have a 50/50 chance of an electrifying outcome. :-)

I used these in a fixture with a prismatic lens that covers the lamps, and even with the frosted lamp, these put out enough light that I only needed one lamp per fixture in my garage. Nice white light for garage tasks. If you are handy with wiring, the conversion process is pretty simple. For most I could just use the wires in the fixture (cutting them off the ballast), but for some of these I had to use some extra wire to connect them. I retrofitted my crappy Home Depot Commercial Electric fixtures that kept killing both my fluorescent tubes and my ballast-based LED bulbs, both only lasted a couple years. I assumed it was the cheap ballast in the fixtures, so I was happy to get rid of the ballast and use these bulbs. So far they work really well. There is a half-second delay when they turn on, but that's no big deal. If they last as long as advertised, I may never have to change them.

I installed these bulbs in three light fixtures (4 bulbs in each fixture) in my basement in February 2022. The lights in the basement are used approximately 1,000 hours per year. These bulbs claim to be rated for 50,000 hours. I figured I'd have them for many years to come without needing to replace any. Initially everything was fine. I really liked the ease of installation, brightness and overall performance. I would have given them five stars at that moment...But then things went sideways. Within the first 12-15 months they started to fail. One by one they quit working. I contacted the vendor through Amazon and they quickly sent me a box of four replacements under warranty. I was impressed and grateful. Unfortunately the failures continued. Now a total of six bulbs have failed and I don't have any replacements left. I also don't want to just keep putting bulbs in that only last a short period of time. These bulbs have a terribly short lifespan. I'm at a point that I need to purchase replacements again and I do not want to buy bulbs from this manufacturer. I need to look at another option. Needless to say I am very disappointed that these didn't last and after spending $90 on them. Now I have to buy others and start all over from scratch. They definitely are not worth the money and I cannot recommend them.

The light output of 300 lumens is barely more than the fluorescent lamps I replaced. There is a very noticeable difference between the 5000k color of the LEDs which is much closer to daylight than the yellower light emitted by fluorescents. I bought these to see if my wife liked them better in her closet before going to the trouble of rewiring the fluorescent fixture. Missing accomplished and she is happy with the light color and brightness. I installed another pair in my garage which has a 10 ft ceiling. The output is very similar to dedicated LED lamps previously installed and whiter than the fluorescents. The lumens, or the amount of light output, is not much different than those older lamps. I recommend these to people wanting to try LEDs in older fixtures. They fit just like T12 4 ft fluorescent lamps after you remove the protective caps off each end. They are directional and emit light straight down rather than 360 degrees around their circumference like original fluorescent lamps. The tubes are frosted to soften and even the light emitted.

The lights are bright and beautiful, however, they do not throw the light correctly from angled tombstones due to having 180 degrees of lighted angle.

For years, I was dealing with flickering florescent lights in the basement. I knew the problem was with ballasts, but didnt want to be bothered with changing the ballasts. So, I kept on changing the light bulbs expecting diferent results and wasting a lot of money in the process - a definition of insanity. Finally, I did some reaeach on LED lights and bypassing the ballasts. It was so easy to bypass the ballast and to install these lights. They are much brighter than my old Fluorescent lights using much less energy. If you are still using the florescent lights, I strongly recommend to change to these LED lights. Who knows, you might even end up saving some money on utility.

No problem with the installation and they are very bright.

Replaced the florescent bulbs in my garage, the LEDs don't care if it's cold like the old bulbs did. A lot brighter than the florescent bulbs, similar color but more white. I'd say they're close to being too bright for certain rooms but I usually prefer warm white. It was easy work to remove the ballasts for all the fixtures but it did take some time. The bulbs fit into the housings perfectly. Some of the bulbs didn't have the protective plastic peel on them which makes me think I got a returned item but can't say for sure. I've installed 10 bulbs and they all work so far, not noticable difference in color or brightness. I can't say for sure how long they'll last, only time will tell
