Great lock, almost perfect!
We have owned this lock for 1 year. (I wrote this review at 2 months, but we still love the lock, and even bought the cheaper code only version for the back door, since we could share the wifi bridge with multiple locks.) Ok, first of all, installation was a breeze. We were replacing a manual deadbolt, and I'm not even sure we looked at the directions - everything went together without a hitch! Setup was pretty easy too, though if you set it up from the lock itself, and then you want to use the app, you'll have to reset the lock and start over. But even with setting up, resetting and doing it again from the app, we were up and running in about 30 minutes. The lock detects my and my wife's fingerprints just fine. My mom, who is 92, not so much. We assumed her complaints about not being able to grip with her finger tips any more was a grip strength issue, not a friction issue, but maybe not - this lock just does not recognize her fingerprints. It allows her to save them, but when she goes to open the door, it rejects her every time. But as she doesn't go out on her own any more, and her code works fine, so it's not a big deal. The fingerprint is more so we can get in quickly if there is an issue, without having to have her key in hand, so it is fine for us. The app is good, and simple to use. Sometimes it doesn't connect on the first try, but it's like it times out too early, as the second try is always successful. There are indicators in the app as to what method it is using to connect, which is good to see what it's trying to do. It's very simple to add a user to the lock, and I like that you can choose for each user if they have a code, a fingerprint, or the app, or any combination. Each user is allowed two fingerprints. (I saw another user saying "only two?" but for me, based on height and doorjamb, I really ever only use my thumbs to open the lock, and 95% my left thumb. It's too awkward otherwise.) You can also disable a user without deleting that user. We have a code that is shared with the neighbors if we go out of town, but when we are in town, we disable that user. A user can also have scheduled times or days when it works; for example, you could allow a health worker access between 9 and 12 every weekday, but nothing else outside of those hours and days. You can set up a temporary code for say a repair person, that expires after one use. I've never seen quite so many options on a lock! The only "connected" service I've tried this with is IFTTT, and I'm disappointed in that. I have motion sensors set up in the house to "see" if my Mom is moving around (in a non-invasive way) and the triggers feed a spreadsheet. I'd like the lock to do the same thing, and IFTTT is set up correctly to do so as it works occasionally. Maybe 1 in 10, but that's generous. I know that it *should* work, because the text notification I get seems to work 100% of the time. So I don't really have a theory as to why the other fails - both are internet based - if one works the other should. To respond to a few other reviews I saw: It's never given me a "lock jammed" warning. It's never lost its memory on "handing" - whether the lock is installed left side or right side. I don't use the "automatic unlock" feature. We purchased this lock to give us anytime access to the house without having to find the key, and to allow outside access to the house if necessary - she wears a medical alert device, and now the responders can get in if needed. So everything else is fluff, and we are very happy with this lock!

Wonderful smart deadbolt, but configuration can be difficult
The U-Bolt Pro fit perfectly in my door to replace my older "dumb" deadbolt. No hassles there-- easy to adjust for diameter of door hole and distance of the hole from the edge of door. Was able to use the previous lock's strike plate in the door frame. The outside part of the lock (with the keypad and fingerprint sensor) has some wires with a rectangular plug that fits into the inside half of the lock mechanism. There was nothing in the instructions on how to properly orient the plug, which could apparently go in both ways. However, on installation, I could open and close the lock with the phone app and by twisting the inside knob (like on any deadbolt), but the outside keypad and fingerprint reader didn't function. The phone app also did not offer the option of programming the fingerprint sensor. There was no mention of this problem in the installation guide, so I had to search online for advice (no support available on weekends). It appeared that there might be a problem with the electronic connection between halves of the lock. I took the two halves apart and re-seated the wires with the plug oriented in the opposite direction. Then, the keypad worked, but I still couldn't program the fingerprint reader. Again, no advice in the limited printed directions. Very frustrating. I decided to wipe the memory of the lock (again, found out how to do this online), reset it to factory configuration with the pin provided, deleted my phone app and reloaded it, and then re-programmed the lock from the beginning. This time , it asked to register the fingerprint of all users as they were added (which it didn't do before) and it finally works fine. I was able to plug in the included WiFi bridge in a nearby outlet and connected it to my WiFi. This was a bit of a hassle because it cannot connect to a 5G network. Fortunately, my router also has a 2.4 GHz network, which worked. Now I can control the lock from anywhere I have a WiFi connection. The keypad and fingerprint reader work perfectly. Aside from the installation hassles (caused by a poor initial electronic connection between the two parts of the lock-- I blame myself mostly), the lack of 5G internet support, the total absence of problem-solving instructions, and lack of weekend support, I think this actually is a great product. I am very happy with it. Just be careful to assure that the electronic connection between the outside and inside lock parts is properly made before trying to program the lock!!! Be sure to use a less than 5G WiFi network. INstall on a weekday. Then you're all set.

decent replacement for similar model that croaked after barely 2 years
This was purchased to replace their previous model that lasted a mere 2 years. It didn't fail 100% but stopped being able to retract the bold completely--thus it took 4 or 5 tries to get in. This new one has finger print detection which works for me one out of 3 tries and never for the wife. The "Training" for finger print went ok. Since this fingerprint tech is so fragile and unreliable I recommend ignore their suggestion to try different orientations and to just pick the finger/thumb and your preferred angle and train all samples the same way. That will provide a better chance of a "hit". Happily the code works fine and the geo fencing works for me. Their geo fencing (unlock automatically when you arrive within 900 feet) is hit and miss. I worked for wife several months, then me not her for several. It is worth setting up and enjoying, just don't depend on it. Their app (as others have posted) is ok for lock/unlock but very difficult to use and not at all intuitive. I use many apps and lots of tech, so I can say, this non-US designed app is BARELY ok. Just try to delete a location, change Settings, find the place to turn on/off alerts, notifications, logging, and geo fencing. It takes a LOT of experimentation. But it does work and as a simple code based Dead Bolt, it's fine.

UPDATED. Will lock you out! Don’t work. Love the lock, Great features - critical flaw
Update # 3 (3/22/20) Will return Lock and buy another brand. The replacement failed today with an internal jam error. It jammed in the locked position and unable to open from outside. I got lucky I was taking the trash outside and my wife was home inside. I really like the design and sturdiness feel of the lock. It does no good if unreliable and locks me out. Last thing I noticed, the log does not record errors. The lock jammed and displayed as jammed in the mobile app. When I look at the access log it does not show the jammed activity. ________________________________ Update # 2 (3/19/20) Amazon was great and resolved the matter by processing return exchange. I have to mention the customer service through email was pleasant and responsive as it can be over the few days I tried to resolve the issue. That said, here's my update. 1. The "new" lock that arrived was a used?/open-package lock missing the plastic wraps/bags. I know this because the original lock was new with all the plastic wraps and such. in addition, you can tell the Box plastic tape seal was opened. I hesitated to install it because I felt as it could be a returned defective lock. And since I paid for a new lock, i expected a new lock. But because of the hassle of the manual key locks, I decided to install it. Bad mark for Amazon for sending me an open-package lock. 2. The lock has been in use for a week, and it is operating as expected. The battery level remained at "High" over this time. however, the original lock went from high to non-operating.in an instant, so in the back of my head, there is still unease. 3. Fingerprint biometric security - One of the primary reasons I purchased this lock. 60% of the time operates on the first attempt. The remaining times it took 3-6 attempts to get the lock to initiate the fingerprint read. Not happy with this. I am still up-in-the-air if I a going to keep this lock. The fact that the lock was opened makes me uneasily with a feeling that it might be a defective returned unit and the battery can be dead at any moment. I am Researching the Lockly keyless entry lock. _____________________________________________ Update 1: The lock does not work with fresh batteries. When I Manually locked, I can open with the app. The app will not lock it. When I press the lock/unlock button the lock will beep, but does not move the cylinder to lock. When I press the lock/unlock button on the lock, it does not lock it. A fingerprint does not work. If the door is locked, I can open with the passcode ——————— Easily locked out of your house when battery is low. See my email below. Dear Ultraloq, The lock has been working fine up to today. It's only been 5 days since I installed, and used the batteries that were included with the package, and it completely died. There are a few VERY concerning issues that occurred during this incident. 1. I had no warning of low battery. as of last night there, no messages. This morning no messages until I use the phone to lock the door then i saw. 2. Luckily today, I worked at home today. If otherwise, I would've been locked out of the house with no physical keys (since i have not off-site a set of emergency keys yet). Once the battery was low, the lock DID NOT physically function 3. The status of the lock in the app reflects the action you took. meaning, when the lock was physically unlocked; you open the app, press button to lock it, it will pause (like it's waiting for the lock) then show as locked, but physically it is STILL unlocked. It does not reflect that lock is not functioning (just low battery) 4. 1-week battery life is not good at all. I hope that the batteries were just a batch of bad quality.

Bought in Sept 2020 and love it! updated 8/2022
Update 8/2022, This lock has worked flawlessly since we installed it! Can't recommend this highly enough. Would defiantly purchase again. I was wanting some very specific things in a smart lock, one fingerprint ID, be able to use a physical code and also be able to use a key if all else failed, like the battery. This lock does it all along with a phone app, if for some reason it doesn't lock correctly the phone app notifies you. It also works with Alexa which is a bonus for us. It is low profile and easy to install. I can't say enough good things about it. Everything I wanted and then some. Now I want this same company to make a padlock with the same features. Oh and I have all 11 family members fingerprints loaded on the device and can program a one time code if I need to let a friend or neighbor into the house when I'm not home. This is really convenient. To summarize, if WIFI goes down and the battery fails I can still get into my house with a key. You need the WIFI for the app and fingerprint I think, and nothing will work if the battery fails. But no worries because an old school key will work just as well. I have a lock box for the key that is coded. We have very limited space for the lock to be installed in, because of windows and trim. This lock doesn't need much space and because it's so low profile it looks good. Not in your face lookie I'm a smart lock! yep you can buy less expensive but honestly not better, this is worth the price tag.

So thrilled with this lock
I had a Kwikset smart lock for 6 years and it was awful. Really convenient when it worked, but usually its batteries were dead. Finally I replaced it with this lock. I LOVE THIS LOCK. It's SO UGLY but I guess that's why its price is so much lower than its functionality would suggest. I installed it easily by myself. I never got the Alexa app to work at all: 90% of the time it said the lock was locked, without regard to whether it actually was or not, and it rarely unlocked when told to do so. I uninstalled the Alexa app, and I just tell Alexa to trigger it through IFTTT instead. The only drawback is you can't ask it for its status. But it locks and unlocks very reliably by voice. The bridge has to be pretty close to the lock. The instructions say 10 feet. What the instructions did not say is that the bridge also has to be pretty close to the router. Putting it 4 feet closer to the router made the difference; that is, I had to mount the bridge near the ceiling (the router is upstairs) rather than plugging it directly into the wall outlet below. The fingerprint reader doesn't work as reliably as I would like. But the numeric buttons are flawless. I love the belt and suspenders and another belt and more suspenders, meaning the hidden key entry, and the port that gives it power to unlock from outside in case the batteries are dead (and you don't have a key but you can get your hands on a power pack). It has been 2 months since I installed it and there has not been any hiccup yet, beyond working out the initial programming and bridge setup (and discarding the Alexa app).

I love this lock.....
This lock has been a life saver for my family. My teens have lost more housekeys than I can count and my husband would frequently forget his key and then be locked out. To save my sanity, I decided to try an electric lock. I love that I can use the app to check the lock status and lock/unlock the door if needed (super helpful after I've gone to bed). I can assign a temporary code to house/pet sitters or visiting family (no need to find an extra key). Overall, this lock has added efficiency to our household and I have highly recommended it to many friends. Just shy of 3 years having this lock, it stopped working. The mechanical part went out on a Friday night. I immediately contacted the company and they were amazing from beginning to end. They had a new part to me by Wednesday of the following week- and this was after determining that my lock was out of warranty. My family and I suffered through a few days of using the backup key for the lock and have thankfully gone back to our electric lock way of life. I would happily purchase another lock from this company if and when the time comes.

WiFi seems very iffy
I purchased the lock that included the bridge because I really wanted to be able to control the lock from anywhere. The lock installed very easily and was up and running very quickly. The app is fairly straight forward, and I was able to connect via Bluetooth (BT) very easily (you have to connect via BT before you can connect to the WiFi). Connected to BT everything works pretty seamlessly and if that's all I wanted I'd probably rate it between a 4.5 and a 5. However, as I mentioned above, I really want to control it from anywhere. The bridge has to be within 10 feet and in direct line of sight. Mine is within 5 feet and very much in line of sight (see attached photo). I have an Orbi Mesh router and so disabled the 5 Ghz band so that only the 2.4 Ghz was broadcasting. It took several attempts to make a good connection but when it did finally connect everything seemed to work fine. I have MANY smart devices in my home and all of them work with 2.4 Ghz even AFTER I reenable the 5 Ghz band so that I can run the router in AX mode. Unfortunately, this product DOES NOT work in AX mode and if you reenable the 5Ghz band the WiFi connection doesn't work. I've looked for possible solutions and have tried several of them. Unfortunately, none of them worked. The Orbi router (and I suspect any commercial grade mesh router) will not allow me to block the MAC address on only the 5Ghz band which might have helped if I could do it. Anyway, when I check the devices attached to my router when in both AC and AX mode the U-tec shows up and in both cases shows as being connected to 2.4 Ghz but for whatever reason it doesn't work. I'll keep trying and if I can get it to work with the Mesh router in AX mode then I'll keep it, because the alternative would be to run the router in AC mode and give up the advantages of AX just for this lock. If I can't I'll return it. I've ordered a couple other ones to test them, and since they use a more standard Gateway rather than the U-tec proprietary bridge, which I suspect is the problem. I'll update the review when I've sorted that out. If you are happy with only the BT connection or are not using a Mesh router this could be a 4–5-star item, but if you have a Mesh router you will most likely be disappointed. UPDATE 12/6/22: After a week of trying to get it to work with my Mesh router it would not work while in AX mode, so I am sending it back. I otherwise liked the lock but will try a different smart lock that uses a G2 gateway rather than a proprietary bridge. As a Mesh router user, I'd give this 2-stars, If I wasn't using a Mesh router, I'd give it a little higher than 4 stars, so a 3-star rating overall.

Pretty accessible even for a blind person to create profiles on the digital lock👍👍👍
I like that the number pad is tactile, one of the few if not only digital lock i found usable by the number pad for a blind person. The keys are made of rubber, and has a springy feel to it. It is around the fingerprint sensor in a circle, somewhat like an old-fashioned telephone pad Thumbprint sensor is sensitive and I as specially found the automatic unlock function when I am nearing very handy when my hands are full. Only complaint is I have to go far enough from the property for it to recognise that I am coming back and automatically unlocking. Overall a fantastic product at a very affordable price point that is accessible and easy to use.

Super buen producto

Seamless Apple Key Experience and Excellent Support
I’ve been using the ULTRALOQ Bolt NFC Smart Lock for a while now, and overall I’m genuinely impressed with how well it performs. ⭐ Apple Home Key Integration The standout feature for me is Apple Home Key. It works flawlessly — fast, reliable, and incredibly convenient. Both locking and unlocking work directly from my iPhone and Apple Watch with a simple tap, and the reaction time is almost instant. ⭐ Key Card vs Apple Key The included key card** only unlocks** the door, not lock it. It’s not a big issue, but worth noting. To compensate, I enabled auto‑lock, which works well for my setup. ⭐ Customer Service Customer service has been exceptional. I opted into some testing features, and when an issue occurred, ULTRALOQ actually contacted me before I even realised something was wrong. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it remotely — a level of support I rarely see. ⭐ Build Quality & Door Fit The lock itself feels solid and well‑made. The door sensor doesn’t perfectly match my door structure, but since I don’t rely on the sensor for auto‑locking, it hasn’t affected my usage. ⭐ Battery Life During the early testing phase, battery drain was higher than expected. After a firmware update, the battery performance improved significantly and is now much more in line with what I’d expect from a WiFi‑enabled smart lock. ⭐ Overall Value For the price — especially with Apple Home Key included — this lock offers excellent value. It’s fast, convenient, secure, and backed by responsive customer support. I’m very happy with the overall experience.

Good product and good suport
I've had a few other door smart devices before and this one stands out with all the functionality and the app. Everything works really well. There was a small error on my part, I thought the model I had ordered came with a sensor that allowed the lock to detect when it was closed, but unfortunately as I discovered later on once I touched base with Utec support team I discovered the one I got doesn't support the sensor so it locks with the timer only. It's not a big deal as I've other doors I can use the one I ordered and I can get the correct one next time. Support was super responsive and knowledgeable, including advising what model I should get to have all the functionalities I wanted. Definitely a nice product.
