Are the cases with the blue pumpkins see thru? Would I be able to but them over my everyday throw pillows and not see the design underneath?

Yes they are see thru. I have them on my pillows that have light grey/white patterns on the front and I can see it through the Autumn/Thanksgiving pillow cases.
