Q: What are the connecting sizes?

The product details and description identify it as 0.5 inches IPS connections. To the laymen, that would mean 1/2 NPT. Don't let yourself be fooled by that nomenclature. A 1/2 NPT is what a standard gas pipe is threaded with. It is around 3/4 or 1" in diameter. If you buy some sort of flexible natural gas tubing for perfect and easy positioning under your grill or next to your house, it will already be the proper thread to fit into the valve/timer. I've put these on four grills over the years and they are incredible. Very easy to install. Typically, no special reducers or step up connectors required. I hope that helps. Happy holidays.

That entirely depends on you you plumb it in. If you just put it inline with the gas supply, you'd have to turn it on every time, and the fireplace would turn off after the timer ends (max 1 hour) unless you turn the dial again. This is how I have it setup with my gas grill. You could also plumb it in with a bypass valve so that opening the valve would bypass the timer, and your fireplace would run forever.

Q: Can this be used on a kitchen gas stove?

I am simply a homeowner who installed it on a barbecue, but as long as you use the correct fittings I would think so. Your pilot light, if equipped, would go out after the timer shut the gas off each time. That could prove to be a pain depending on how difficult it is to light.
