5 Pairs Passive PoE Injector and PoE Splitter Kit with 5.5x2.1 mm DC Connector RJ45 Power Over Ethernet

This is great for using Ethernet cable to move power and data on a single CAT-5 cable. Although I believe it's made mostly for security cameras due to connectors on the sending and receiving cables, I suppose it can be used for anything as long as the voltage doesn't exceed higher than 60v. A great use for me personally was to put a small 5 port Ethernet switch in a location that I had no access to an outlet. The voltage for the switch is 5v, but connector was different. Had to do some DIY to change the connector but when finished, I was able to power the switch and distribute the data to other devices. I should also note that this setup may be best used in 10Mb and not suitable for 100Mb or Gigabit networks, since the cabling uses 4 of available 8 wires in the CAT-5 cable for distributing power.

product is amazing when combined with shorter PoE cables, but it simply does not have the ability to carry such a current through 100 ft. update: you can definitely still use it, just make sure you use a good power supply. I needed 12 volts at 2 amps for 8 cams; about 24 watts a piece. I bought a 360 watt 12 volt 30 amp power supply and simply connected 2.1x5.5 lines to it. these adaptors work fine, even with the extra juice ( needed due to 100ft being too great)

Great value pack and excellent quality and performance. Need to power an Access Point, Camera, etc but no AC outlets are nearby ? this is the product you need. We had a unique situation where we had three (3) access points to install in locations where no AC power outlets were installed. This would not be a problem if the Access Points could be powered by POE but these units could only be powered by a 12VDC power adapter. These adapters allowed us to centrally power the APs while sending data and power over the same cable. All is well that ends well.

Works great swapped out a bunch of old analog cams that used cat 5e with bnc baluns and power connectors just terminated with a rj45 and used this the new cams were ip but not poe these worked perfectly just connect one end to the cameras rj45 and 12v power then on the other side plug the rj45into the same network switch as your nvr or a switch that's on the same vlan as your nvr and connect a power connector and run a line to a 12v power distribution box I used a 9channel cause I have 8 cameras that way u don't have to use 8 separate power adapters plugged into a surge protector that's a fire hazard waiting to happen

Still working well used with my IP cameras with good throughput and line speed.

I read many, many reviews here on Amazon and the web about sending power through RJ45 to BNC cameras ( I don't have IP cameras yet ), so I started with the NETGEAR 8 Port PoE Gigabit Ethernet Easy Smart Managed Essentials Switch (GS308EP) - with 8 x PoE+ @ 62W ( ASIN B08MBFLMDC ) since I only have 4 cameras and 1 camera is PTZ ( when I get IP cameras I am already set to manage the power, QoS, VLAN, etc with the switch ). I purchased these 5 pairs Passive PoE Injector and PoE Splitter Kit with 5.5x2.1 mm DC Connector RJ45 Power Over Ethernet. I have a NETGEAR GS308 5 port switch which will provide communication to the GS308EP switch so I can access the admin page. With all that and reading the reviews, unfortunately I could not get it to work. No power being sent to the cameras and the question of WHY. I continued researching the WHY until I found from NETGEAR that in order for the GS308EP switch to communicate and be able to manage the power to the cameras the splitters had to be 802.3af/at compliant, if not the baluns WILL NOT work, and that I needed ACTIVE baluns, NOT passive like these 5 Passive pairs I purchased. I did find and watched a video "How to Install AHD CCTV Cameras using POE switch as Power Source" that helped me understand about the active baluns, so I purchased a 4-Pack Active PoE to 2.1mm DC - IEEE 802.3af/at compliant. I could not be more happier when I received the ACTIVE baluns and connected them cause everything was set, I was just waiting on the baluns. The baluns that worked for me where the ACTIVE ones, not the PASSIVE baluns, WHY? Probably these Passive baluns are not 802.3af/at compliant, who knows, but none of the cameras worked and I tested all the passive baluns. I hope all 5 pairs are not defective. I have another house that I will be able to use them and I will see if they work or not. I gave 3 stars because the passive baluns looks they were made with quality in mind and some people have posted good reviews, but for me they did not work. With the setup mentioned above I hope it helps other people out there that have basic knowledge, because there is no single page on the internet that provides you a solution, you have to dig and read many, many pages to do trial and error until it works. I love NETGEAR products and still have ( of course not connected ) a NETGEAR Internet Gateway Router with a built-in 4-port 10/100 Mbps Ethernet switch model RT314. NETGEAR is build with TRUST in mind.

Works as expected. Use em for routers and sometimes non-poe cameras
